Love it

are those the on one bars or wtb's?

No problems with the front chainring 'derailling' unintentionally?

there is enough cable pull with those lever for the linear pull brakes? Or do you have different brakes on it ? I can't tell from the pics

Thanks

Bars are the on-one midges. It occasionally likes to throw the chain - I'm tossing on one of those n-gear jump-stops as soon as it gets here. The brakes are running with those wacky 'travel agent' devices. I don't like them, they're a bit kludgey, but they seem to get the job done for now. I'll probably go disc up front sooner or later.

I posted this bike once before in here but it was a while ago and it has gone through some changes since...now not much is stock on it except the frame and a couple of other things. It's a 21" Rockhopper Comp and it's come from just over 30lbs down to 24.5lbs as shown in the pictures with some mud on it.

Mike (spidey?) - I'm digging the hell out of the monkey. I'm still dialing in parts of it, and it hasn't seen much beyond some fire roads at tilden yet, but it's one of the most fun bikes I've been on in a long time. It's equally happy hopping curbs, spinning out down telegraph, and cruising fire roads.

Today I'm tossing some of those top-mount cross levers on it, and adding a middle chainring and front derailleur to the mix. I have a vague idea of the 44 being the street chainring and the 32 being the dirt chainring, but we'll see how all that works out in real life.

To sum up : yay monkey!

What's with the lazy crap? You know the drill. It's a single extra keystroke and you don't look like a 12 year old loser

Thomson Elite (setback) post and Selle SLR saddle. My other Rockhopper (pic at top of page 87 in this thread), has a similar setup (less the setback of the post).

My Trek 4500. It's mostly stock except for the Marzocchi MX Pro ETA '05, the Chrome EggBeaters, and the Panaracer Fire XC Pro tires.

holy crazy batman!

1 thing: cut off the casette plastic part. makes your bike look cheap among such nice components.

Just wondering, why do people use $20 platform pedals with a $400 XTR crankset?

Some people don't like clipless pedals, or toe clips, or anything else there is. And platform pedals aren't really worth that much more than $20.

Correcta-mundo. Although mine are worth a bit more than $20.00 because they're carbon-chromoly-unobtanium with special plasma-infused anti-matter bearings.

Alrighty here's the rig I just finished building up last week. I've taken it out 4 or 5 times and it's a blast to ride.
Pic isn't great, but it's all I've got at the time.
