What do you do when you are an avid bike rider and your wife has never, ever, ridden? Why you restore a rusty 66 pound Schwinn Tandem De Lux, and teach her to ride after the wedding.... of course.
It worked, too. She liked riding so much for our second anniversary she bought us a Trek T-900.
Single work, a Trek 7000 that's showing some wear, and her new Trek Navigator 300.
But our favorite bike picture is still the lead sled, at the wedding. Oh, it was a near-record 97 degrees with unreal humidity when that picture was taken. I think we all lost about 10 lbs that day.
Nuff Said. C.

Instead of being ungrateful, here's what I would do if I were you: Be thankful your parents bought you a brand name, quality bike and ride that bike into the ground. I don't mean abuse it, but simply put so many miles on it that you wear out the drivetrain, etc. When you accomplish that, your parents will see that:
a) you're committed to, and serious about, the sport; and
b) it makes more sense to buy a new bike than replace the drivetrain on your existing bike.
You can then discuss using your $550 to buy a Rockhopper.

i'm sorry, but i get pissed at people like him. those that measure their family in dollars. he got a bike that i'm saving up for, (even though my dad's paying $250), i still have to raise ~300 to pay for the bike including taxes. and here he is, *****ing about how the bike he got is $30 less than what his brother got. THAT, is BS.

Whoa man calm down and take the time type out your words. Yes it is actually my bike, I'm just getting back in to mountain biking and I didn’t realize they were hydraulics I expected to see a bigger reservoir on the levers... I’m sorry to all those who were offended by the comment on the brakes not being hydraulic.

Ok sorry, I got carried away i guess. I see yer point but, when I was looking at the bikes I really want the much nicer hardrock sport and I offered to pay for the extra money but they didnt want me too even though I had a lot of money at that time, that is mainly why Im mad sorry I didnt say that because I thought u people in this forum were, like people that all have at least a cheap good bike, from my first impression here this forum is almost like say,a radio shack grade rc forum compared to a hobby grade rc forum but Ive seen a mix of that here
