I did add new DK magnesium Iron Cross pedals, which I only put on because I ordered by mistake (I wanted black ones).

wow, that brings back the memories. I've taken something of a nap for about 6 years, so it's good to see some of the stuff I remember. I have a good friend who had a Girvin fork.
I've got the old school stuff, too. (well, not counting the '92 Trek 830) '95 Klein Attitude (yep, MC2 stem/handlebar combo). Bought a Carbon Judy XC (carbon legs), Kooka levers, AVID brakes, Grip Shift X-Rays, Suntour XC front derailleur, and Proshift rear derailleur. Syncros aluminum seat post and Selle Flite saddle. Richey Titanium clipless pedals. I was in the "weight race" at the time with the owners of the LBS (bad mistake for me! good for them
). Anyway, got it down to 20.5 lbs with "stock" XT cranks and chainrings (still have them). Oh, and I have Mavic M231 rims, DT revolution spokes (originally the FiberFlite carbon fiber spokes), and NukeProof hubs.

Mine has the same sort of top tube and I like it quite a bit.. It makes stepping over the top tube a LOT easier and saves "the boys" from any incidental damage from sliding off the seat forwards.

OUCH... :-\ I've never gone that direction off the seat... but if you decide to do a quick forward dismount and end up straddling the top tube, it puts more space between the fragile goods and the potentially destructive top tube. lol

Bikes: Cannondale R2000 road bike w/dura ace and spinergy SPOX rims and a Redline Mono Cog single speed MTB (no suspension, very sexy)
I ride a redline mono cog single speed. I go in downhill races and xc races with it (special xc single speed class in Perth). Its got no gears (duh) and no suspension and its a rocket. Bit gnarly to handle on downhill runs but its light, tourquey and i can beat people with $4000 duallies. Eat my dust. Oh yeah its the ultimate urban combat bike too.
K.I.S.S - keep it simple, stupid.

I'd imagine it's a great urban bike... no fork, no derailleurs, no shifters... less stuff to get jacked up. Not a bad idea.
