Defective front disk brake unit from Avid...
Is being replaced on my Motobecane Fly Ti MTB by Avid under warranty. The LBS never could get it to stop rubbing, they removed it, sent it to Avid, who said, yes, it's F'd, we're sending you a replacement.
And some people here were telling me stuff like 'that's normal, they don't know what they're doing at the LBS', etc.
I got sick of it, told my LBS to give me the bike back when it worked right. They were very cool about it since I didn't buy the bike there. But I buy plenty of stuff from them (just got a new Cervelo from them in February). They contacted Avid, the bike should be back on the trail by late March.

2 weeks is a fair while to wait, not unreasonable for a warranty replacement, but not ideal service either... especially considering it was defective.
But you have other bikes to hold you over, so it's not catastrophic.

Nice to have ya back, Jimmy!
It's an imperfect world with life throwing curveballs at our front brakes, eh? I don't recall...are you running Juicy's on your Fly Ti?

I get it now. You think a couple of weeks is a big deal because I have to ride my MTB every day. Silly stoned MTB WEENIES.

Isn't that kind of long? When I had trouble with my brakes the LBS contacted the vendor and they authorized replacement. Got the bike by closing of that day.
Unless they do things different now. *shrugs*

Bikes: Bike list is not a resume. Nobody cares.

When I broke the brake lever body a year or so ago, I had a new lever on hand in 2 days from Chicago. I'm not all that big on a sram drivetrain, but I do like the avid brakes and rock shox suspension, both of which sram owns and I haven't had a negative encounter with Sram's customer support yet, where I have had a few issues with shimano(Remember account number at all costs).

PCad, what everyone is saying is that Avid brakes are typically in stock at most LBSes. If Avid authorized a warranty replacement they should be able to put one of theirs on your bike and send you on your way and then simply put in stock the one Avid sends them.

Exactly ! Most part's can be mailed with in a few day too, NOT weeks!

Who cares how long it takes? Who really wants to ride an MTB? I just post here to make you stoners think you're in the BF Loop.
You're not. Not that any of you should care. Just ride your MTBs and be happy. That's what I would do if I were a Birkenstock wearing Subaru driving Dope smoking MTBer.
Whoah.
By the way, stereotypes RULE.

If this can somehow incite an Intra-BF Cross-Forum MTB vs. Roadie Flame War, my mission will have succeeded.

Actually, we kind of take pitty on you when you limp your sorry, bruised carcass in here, pcad - - it usually means you've gotten your a** handed to you the Road forum again and you are seeking some refuge.

I'm thinking pcad hit the bunny slop on his MTB, fell over, and bent the brakes.
LBS doesn't want to warrenty. If I were the LBS I would run that Ghay roadie out tha shop. Stick to street pcad, the mountains are no place fa you.
