Drat. Now watching a Scandinavian food show. They're in Norway, eating rice pudding and gravlax. (not together)

Can I make rice pudding with brown basmati rice?

At a holiday party last night, the subject of favorite Christmas songs came up...

My favorite Christmas carol is "Carol of the Bells". I like just about any version of it...but if I had to list my top 5 specific songs/artist versions, it would be:

1. White Christmas – Drifters
2. The Christmas Song – Nat King Cole
3. Please Come Home For Christmas – Eagles
4. Silent Night – The Impressions
5. Christmas Wrapping – Waitresses

What about those of you have inclined to enjoy Christmas? Any favorites?

Big Problem! Due to the weather they rescheduled Le Tour until Tuesday and now it conflicts with Tennessee Basketball!

We don't have cable or satellite, just broadcast - but we get I think 9 different over the air digital public broadcast stations. (I dunno how much you know about American TV - public tv is much different from our commercial broadcast channels) Each one has a slightly different focus, the linguist show was on "World" and now I'm on "Create".

The Scandinavian food shows are great, and there are a couple other gems. Then there are a bunch that are really truly poor quality. Wretched. There's a home improvement show that makes me want to throat punch the stupid hosts every time they speak.

no. that rice is meant to not stick together but rice pudding needs a rice that is extra sticky together. i bet you can use sushi rice.

It's warmed up significantly. It's a santa themed pub crawl. I heard they are closing down some streets for it. If that's the case I'll ride; if not I'll probably just take a cab.

I know... that's all I have though.

I'm looking up recipes and it appears rice pudding is enjoyed all over the world in many different cultures.
There's one with brown basmati, coconut milk, and cardamom and cinnamon that seems to be possibly SE Asian in origin?

It's nice outside. I think I'll go snowshoeing.

I did see a cyclist out this afternoon. I did not feel compelled to follow his example.

On the topic of Christmas outings. I'm taking the fam out to see Santa rappel off the Macy's building downtown. Apparently a reindeer assists. Wish us luck.

Extreme Santa. Sounds like it'll be a good time.

We're 10 seconds into watching the IM Kona recap, and Mr. TS turned to me and said "You know, I'm going to want to sign up for another one as soon as this is over."

Shart.

Brian Cashman (GM of the Yankees) did this a couple of weeks ago off of a building in Bridgeport CT. He was one of Santa's elves...

Stupid rollers. My right quad is killing me. I can't believe it was that underdeveloped compared to my left one.
