I don't get RUOkie's "How many miles..." post.
Maybe I am dense.
Can someone explain it?
Is it a parody of "when should I stand?"

Trains piss me off. I flip off the engineer every chance I get. Heaven forbid if you are a railroad employee fixing the gates because then you get an earful. Juvenile behavior for an old fart, I know. But it makes me feel better, and after all, that's all that really matters. Right?

I'm only coming into this thread because I don't know where else to post this minor gripe...
I have this new single speed bike that I got to tool around on. I just got a new computer to go on it. I just rode this bike to work with the new computer. I have NO IDEA how to reset the computer for my trip home....I didn't read that far into the directions. Ugh.
In other news, having cadence on your new bike computer is pretty cool.

It's a Cateye Astrale 8.
I don't see a way to reset the little trip distance thing and average/max speeds for the ride home.
It's an awesome computer though.

AHA! That did it! (but it was start/sop and Mode buttons)
Thanks! I'd just exhausted almost every combination of button presses and "hold for 2 seconds." I've reset the clock like 15 times.
Now this computer is REALLY cool!

You just have to press both buttons at the same time with a quick click. If you hold them too long, I *think* it resets the overall odometer.

That's OK, rjones. Passenger trains rarely stop at a crossing to switch cars, or pick up freight, or whatever it is they do. During rush hour. As I said, pity that poor fool that was doing gate maintenance at 5:15 in the afternoon, of all times.

If you hold the "reset" button it does, but not the start/stop-mode. I'm glad he didn't do that and did the start/stop instead. I couldn't remember which buttons were where off the top of my head.

I used to live near a GM plant. The rail cars would often screw up traffic. They didn't seem to care what time of day it was. Those CSX guys must have pretty thick skin.

Maybe I'll flip off cyclists at crossings, if I get bored.

I do that all the time. There's a crosswalk going to a school in Portland that featured Instant Yellow. That one was great fun to press. I think I only used that crosswalk twice but pressed the button countless times.

Both sensors are mounted on the chainstay. Rear-wheel and crank get the magnets. I've done a pretty masterful job of taping the wire along my downtube with clear packing tape. I'm quite proud of it actually. It really does LOOK wireless except for a little sliver of extra wire by the fork. And nothing moves at all.
I am a little worried that I'll hit the sensor(s) with my huge work shoes when I wear them, but it didn't happen just now, so I may be in the clear.
