BTW the extra wheel you see 6 inches in front of the bike is to help me with my "draft-o-phobia," it helps me feel more comfortable being right on someone's wheel.

I took a train trip to Chicago this weekend, but I didn't see any cyclists waiting at the RR crossings.

Agreed....my wife is the artist, I will see if I can commission her to make a big mural entitled "Open Road Ahead."

Wish me luck with that.

If it's done on canvas, it could be easily stored when not in use.

Good call. When I posted that, I couldn't remember. For some reason, Bose was sticking in my head, and I couldn't find the right image.

Yup, good call on the Bose. Those are Bose 901 speakers. Not sure they still make them, but they were badass back in the day.

Hook up with a train that does some morning and evening loops around Westminster, CO.

Encourage the engineer to travel at 15 mph.

Again custom geometry necessary for my wacky body dimensions.
Shesh, I was just kidding about the "older than me" part, but pretty close. I was still in diapers at that point. 1984.

901's were the steam, for sure, and they still sound good. I had 301's, as that's all I could afford, but coveted the 901's.

I MADE IT!!

44 miles, 2000ft in the first 12 miles.

It wasn't that bad (besides my legs being dead) except when I started going through the mountains by Gunlock it dropped down to about 20* with a 15mph headwind. I think I'm going to take a few days off and try it again, this time with slightly warmer clothes. My toes got a _little_ frostbite; I'm assuming it was from the ride down. I topped out at 44mph. Probably the fastest I've ever gone on a bike.

I may need to plan a Western train adventure for this purpose.

Meh. But I don't think I would do so good either if I tried doing a mountain in the middle of the winter.

44mph descents in 20* weather is asking for trouble. Up here I use the brakes to keep top speeds under 25mph until it warms up closer to freezing.
