BTW the extra wheel you see 6 inches in front of the bike is to help me with my "draft-o-phobia," it helps me feel more comfortable being right on someone's wheel.

I took a train trip to Chicago this weekend, but I didn't see any cyclists waiting at the RR crossings.

Instead of those fruits you need a view into this thread https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...pen+road+ahead
Wish me luck with that.

Good call. When I posted that, I couldn't remember. For some reason, Bose was sticking in my head, and I couldn't find the right image.

Encourage the engineer to travel at 15 mph.

It's a custom steel bike, brand "Alpine" made by a custom builder who was active in the DC area (Rockville, to be exact) in the 1980's. I got it in 1985. Builder's name was Fred Kelly. I think he stopped making frames a long time ago. If you ask some of your cycling buddies who were riding back then I am sure they will know of Alpine Cycles and Fred Kelly....
Again custom geometry necessary for my wacky body dimensions.

901's were the steam, for sure, and they still sound good. I had 301's, as that's all I could afford, but coveted the 901's.

I MADE IT!!
44 miles, 2000ft in the first 12 miles.
It wasn't that bad (besides my legs being dead) except when I started going through the mountains by Gunlock it dropped down to about 20* with a 15mph headwind. I think I'm going to take a few days off and try it again, this time with slightly warmer clothes. My toes got a _little_ frostbite; I'm assuming it was from the ride down. I topped out at 44mph. Probably the fastest I've ever gone on a bike.

I went to the UK forum, and it looked like Addiction, except people were spitting.
