I'm guessing coasting is in his early to mid 40s.

This is based on his love for weird home remedies and his active gardening.

On one hand, if it is dumb I will quickly become bored stiff.

On the other hand, I don't have much else to do.

in the holiday resort in the red sea. i think the woman killed was in the private beach of the hyatt.

Wetsuits are better - harder to get a good hold on someone when they are slippery. Most of the chaos is unintentional, although I once had someone grab my shoulder, push me down & swim over top of me. That was interesting.

The more confident the swimmer, the less likely you are to be grabbed etc. Everyone just wants to get moving at their pace, so it's usually calm by 200-300m into the race. Turning around the buoys is a whole 'nother thing....

Meanwhile, some said predatory sharks could have been drawn to the area after a ship carrying Australian sheep and cattle for sacrifice during last month's Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha dumped the carcasses of animals which had died during the voyage.

It's a little bit harder to get air in and out of those. You also have to blow them out if you get water in them, which really sucks if you just exhaled. I wouldn't choose to use one in open water for many reasons at all.

All this shark talk. I'm off to swim. The Y pool should be safe.

No, but if you're level with someone you are allowed to swim over them. By swim over them I mean grab their shoulder and pull on them to get yourself forward. I'm not sure how well people who are weaker on the swim would take that though.

Amen to that. I've only sorta played water polo - but I really think it's a sport I could get behind. Like lacrosse - hitting is not only allowed, it is encouraged.

I've never had problems in the races I've done, but they were all wave starts, not mass start. So you only have 200 people together at a time, not 2000. Makes a big difference. I've heard the mass starts can get a little ugly. I've gotten knocked a few times, but it's usually just when I catch up to the poor swimmers in the wave ahead....I feel like drowning people that do breast stroke and end up kicking me in the ribs.

Not really, but you try to see what goes on under a churning pool and get back to us on what you can get away with. Girl on our team who played polo and I were messing around sorta playing polo during the spring, she got real pissed at me because my legs were to slippery for her to hook under water.

our goal keeper used to make a lot of splashing and then push down the opponent underwater, put one arm around his neck and then punch him on the top of his head. no one ever saw anything because of the splashing when people were jumping for the ball.

he was a really mild mannered guy otherwise.

That's the one thing I have not been able to do, learn how to swim. Tried my darndest to learn, several times, but to no avail. Almost like it just wasn't meant to be.

Meanwhile I'm a fool around the water . . . love all water activities, can't swim a lick. I can get from one end of a home pool to where I can stand up with the breast stroke, but that's it. Scary, because I love the water so much it makes me think that fate is going to take me out that way one day.

Another fun evening on the rollers. I wouldn't mind them so bad if I didn't have a numbness issue when riding them. I've used several different bikes on rollers over the year and I have always had that problem. If I get off the bike and walk around for a minute every 15 minutes it's not too bad though.

That's like when we used to line up in walls and whatnot in soccer games during free kicks. Everyone would hook their legs around each other, reach up under each others jerseys, and you'd really have to be careful about catching a backhand to the groin right at the kick.

we did that too. I made 2 1/2 lengths when I was 20. That was the last year I swam. Since then no real swimming until last month. That is exactly why swimming is not as painful now as it was a month ago. It just took a few times back at it to regain form and rhythm. Now just working on swimming 1 1/2 miles without resting and no flip turns (I did some of those this summer in my pool when my wife did not believe that I used to swim)

I found my swimming groove.

I still suck, but it's a good sign.
