I dont know about fotos but Mike Sr. does beam when you mention Mike Jr. He has his first racing bike with 24 inch wheels on it as well as all kinds of trophies and medals from Mike jr. and his wife Dede Deme-Barry hanging from the wall. I suggest everyone stop by Bike Specialties while you still can...rumour has it mike Sr.is retiring soon. There are few shops in the world with the kind of eclectic stuff you find in there.

Isn't Mike Barry owner of Mariposa, not Marinoni? https://www.mariposabicycles.com/

edit: just realized that both marinoni and mariposa were mentioned on this page... maybe it was just me that was confused.

edit^2: I like the bike Mike made for Dede. Gotta love the 6-pack rack on the front (though it should be the euro style that's mounted to the headtube, not the fork).. https://www.mariposabicycles.com/recent.html

Brad: did you say there was something about more polo in the Bike Week calendar? I don't see anything...

i rode back to parkdale from mississagua today and got lost in the waterfront trail and ended up somewhere in etobicoke. and i forgot my helmet so it was extra scary with the truck roaring by. on a bike related note i stopped into Gears bike shop on the way home and boy is it fancy-scmancy. something about seeing a ROW of $6000 specialized cross bikes makes the heart weep. they're displaying the gerolsteiner roubaix hanging from a scale and it hefts in at a hair over 16lbs for the WHOLE bike. what a tank.

i took my cycling glove off slowly one finger at a time and then smacked the clerk with it, demanding satisfaction.

Bikes: The Brown Beast

So I'm picking these up on Friday https://toronto.craigslist.org/bik/334286396.html and want to put my old frame together in a singlespeed fashion. Anyone know of any cheap square tapered cranks and rings?

Just email that you have dura-ace cranks and therefore deserve it far more then anyone else possibly could.

Also mentioning your almond coloured thighs might help.

Bikes: '08 Kona Dawg Deluxe and Miele Fixie Conversion

woot woot... just got back from the first test ride on the finished project bike... so awesome. she's much more stable than my norco conversion and rides smooth as butter. It's pretty neat how a slight change in geometry can make for such a different ride.

Email him. Not everyone wants a bike where the "Gears move freely up and down with ease."

On a related note: Are Marinoni bikes custom? I always thought they were, but the site seems to suggest that they are not.
New Marinonis are custom geometry and paint. They have a suggested standard geometry but he'll change it for pretty much the same price. I've met a couple of people who have gotten road and track bikes built recently and in both cases they had custom geometry and paint. For example, the track bike I saw was "compact" geometry with a sloping top tube which is defintely not on the standard frame. Also, it was a bit slacker in the front end for street riding. Both of those bikes were so nice goddamn. $700ish is amazing for semi-custom!
