Crit Vac 7-3 was fun fun fun. Good to meet you guys. I'll post some pre-game pics tomorrow. I actually went up to meet Flave way the hell north. Good times. Those hills are fast and fun.

Your stats will be a bit differnet, but mine were:

Critical Vacuum IV

Dist.: 32.41km
Time: 1:20:44
Avg Speed: 23.99km/h
Max Speed: 51.7km/h

See ya'll next time, biaaaaa!

32flavours 04-06-06 09:51 PM

How did you guys regroup before Eglinton? I stopped at Eglinton to puff. Weeeird.

Sirrobinofcoxly 04-06-06 09:52 PM

that's the crit vac way, no? ride-puff-ride?

32flavours 04-06-06 09:53 PM

Haha. The puff isn't usually prescribed by the doc though.

Sirrobinofcoxly 04-06-06 09:54 PM

This is silly communicating like this considering that I'm in the next room. But it's so fast now

32flavours 04-06-06 09:55 PM

Hellz yeah.

wasted weasel 04-06-06 09:56 PM

it might have been just the other side of eglinton maybe, there is an entrance to an unlit rail trail that seemed like it was going to be fun...
Yeah I'm confused too because we never left Caledonia the whole time... so you must have past us? next time

operator 04-06-06 10:04 PM

No way you could've passed us going up caledonia I was there the entire time. 32flavours was behind me but I was figuring you'd catch up so I didn't look back :/

That was a fun ride.
<- just got back

Oh and uh this goes without saying:
pics pics pics pics pics pics pics pics

BTW I was Rob.

P.S. MEC is clearing its inventory of park tool stuff and they won't be carrying them anymore. So if you fancy of them, nows the time to get em. They're going to replace all their park stuff with Filzer (ugh?).

Here is gmaps route thing for the geek in us:

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=106398
So the elevation profile says it's 60m change over like some distance. Whatever. Ride distance shown is a complete there and back dist to Honest eds. I don't carry my bike comp with me no more because frankly it just pissed me off.

They also seem to have elevation profile for Toronto now, yay.

damn, that ride sounded like fun. well, still got my ride home to look forward to. rob, is mec having a sale? or did they just discount everything? web-only? quickly looking through their site and no deals... no dice....

operator 04-06-06 10:22 PM

No, no sale, damn goki you're working late.
The accuracy of that elevation profile is questionable.

32flavours 04-06-06 10:24 PM

I think you guys were actually a bit north of Eglinton, because I for sure stopped at Eglinton. And then went around the area for a bit. And then went east on Eglinton. And then ended up in North York. Anyhow, despite spending most of it riding solo, I had a blast tonight. Thanks for the ride, guys.

operator 04-06-06 10:52 PM

Yeah if you're going to buy any bike sutff check out their site first. Free ship to canada = deal.
I got look cleats, 1x red rubino, pc48 chain, deda bartape for $50 shipped.

Oh and dont' worry I bought the $32 one at urbane as well, but I got 10% discount but whatever. I could've gotten a pair for 32.

Shiznaz 04-06-06 11:19 PM

I was the guy in the orange toyota yaris that yelled at you guys while you were going down harbord

I also think we should do one of these rides to bluffer's park at some point and joke around on the cliffs. It could be a fun ride and there would be some sweet hills.

Sounds like fun...

I'd be up for it.

TRaffic Jammer 04-07-06 06:04 AM

Floater:
I used to take Bloor out to Martin Grove and then head north til Woodbridge.
Was 40-50k roughly. You know us oldsters we go by the sun and the wind....lol

CV sounded fun......

BTW I'm looking for a fast 40km route for my 40th birthday, maybe do it at midnight, puff at the stroke and rip a fast 40.

This sounds like the sort of plan that I'll hear about on the news the next day. ;)

cavernmech 04-07-06 06:47 AM

Sorry I missed the ride. I had a previous engagement I totally forgot about. Sounds like a good time. And I had my flesh coloured skin suit all ready to go too. Oh well. I will be there next time.

The reason for this is that MEC violates Park Tool's retailer policy. It retails them at wholesale prices, which pisses off everyone else who has to mark them up considerably. There was a big fight about it in some industry rags, which is also why MEC won't ship them out-of-country. As much as I love MEC, its pricing structures are very aggressive and I'm amazed more companies haven't pulled their products (quite a few have, though). When I was last there in December, there were few Park Tools left (like cone wrenches and chain whips) but nothing especially useful.

If anyone's looking for a cheap set of tools, the Nashbar fold-up kit is pretty good as it can be had for ~$70 on sale +coupon.

PS - Shiznaz: your display was written up as, amongst other things, "terrifyingly beautiful" as one UofT's major newspapers this week.

does anyone here do silkscreening?
