Yeah, I thought you needed something smaller than a 58cm too. Mid 50's?
As c-mech said, don't go over $300. For about $130 rear wheel added to what is otherwise an okay frame, probably a POS stock front wheel and an old road double crank I wouldn't pay that much, However, I tend to like to build stuff up and it may be worth it to you not to do that. $300 maybe okay but I wouldnt' go higher. Note that you'll have to add a front brake unless you plan on joining the brakeless brotherhood off the bat. |
bah! curse my height! the search continues!
thanks for your help (and patience) guys, i appreciate it |

i love the zabriske-stash. although, with facial hair like that i'd say he would suit a 1975 impala rather than a road bike.

anyone up for a ride this morning?

Any shops open today, need to get my threadless headset looked at. Keith, I'm free tonight to lend a hand if needed. |

This Miele is kinda pricey but it is in great shape, it is pink and it might fit you. It is hard to tell from the photos but the head-tube looks on the small side, email the seller and see what size the frame is (or how tall the owner is). You can convert it fairly easily and it is one of the higher-end Miele frames (Columbus tubing, braze-on front derailleur, lugged, etc).

I would have liked to ride this morning aswell but I woke up to a water heater spraying water all over my basement. I certainly hope this day starts to get better.

Operator can attest to the capability and ride of a good used road frame.

kylehutton - which one of the group were you? I was the only one of the crowd on a geared bike and had the garish hi-vis vest on.
I already rode across town today after bottling the ride home last night due to wind + being overly "safe" late last night :) I've ramped up 100 miles on this Gardin since Sunday already, yay for base miles. I'm going to be employed in Whitby soon, so I'll be riding out at least twice a week which should give me some good training miles (I think it's 100km out and back) - thankfully the rise in wages means I can get a GO pass to bail me out. I was thinking ride to some go station on the way as a way to cope with the distance for all 5 days of the week. I've never ridden over 300k in 3 days before, so I'm sure it'll be a shock to the system, just got to step in lightly and break myself in. Sounds like fun tonight, have fun guys - I'm taking my wee one to our first lacrosse game (Go ROCK!), woo. PS, anyone interested in riding to Niagara Falls fixed this year? |
I might be up for the niagara ride, pending availability. :)
Whitby is a nice ride once you get to the rouge. The stretch between the beaches and the rouge kinda sucks though. I think you'd be OK on the go train, but depending on your hours you might have a hard time squeezing on with all the commuters with a bike. |

Sweet Brad/oper... Do you have a date in mind operator? I'd need to ensure a non-daughter weekend is all. I'll be doing the Hairshirt TNT ride, but that'll be on my road bike. I was thinking ride there, camp out (cheap and fun), ride back the next day for the fixed venture.
Good call re: bike/train - my new job has flexible hours, so I was thinking of getting the train up at ~9:30 to coincide with the end of the rush hour restriction - they have a similar time restriction to the TTC. I've ridden to Ajax before, but not further east - I'd probably take Kingston Rd/Hwy2 all the way pretty much from the east end here. If I rode, I'd have to leave at 7 to be in the area for 9, which isn't so bad - just I don't think I can physically handle all that every day yet :p |
Hrm, coolio, what kinda gear ratio would you guys be running for a trip to Niagra Falls?
|
50x11 or 34x22. I'm undecided.
|
Yeah. As soon as we're hitting 20 -25 highs i'm going to do it (no idea when that's going). The last time I rode to niagara was in late september. Do you already have a route? I went lakeshore -> N service road which was mucho boring-o. I'm going to run 42x15 with a bailout 16 on the flop side.
P.S I take the go train nearly daily for the homeward trip. Comfortable and fast. I hear conflicting re: very bad reports of service on the Lakeshore go line. |
