I also hit 45km/h at the bottom of a really sketchy/twisty singletrack downhill, which I believe this picture sums up:

I was doing my best not to become "uncoupled".. eh, Keith? Too bad I was entirely uncoupled and didn't get to enjoy the ride more. ugh! Especially since Mansfield isn't open to regular riding anymore.
"ATTACK!" I am not sure which one I like better.

Is that 2 fingers on the brake levers I see there fella? Tsk Tsk.

Yes? 1 finger on each hand... Would you prefer 4 total or 0?

Could someone (other than Phil @ C.T. n a ridiculous downhill context) explain that one to me? Is the goal to have one finger per lever and everything else is heresy or what?

Its a comfort and control thing. More fingers wrapped around the bar means a tighter grip and more control in a technical downhill, when youre throwing your weight around and tugging on the bars. So with one finger you can usually get adequate speed control while maintaining a strong hold on your bars.

I usually stick with two fingers personally, I like to feel floaty

Figured. Looks like it's time for a further lever throw adjustment on the brakes so they don't hit my knuckles ever (I've tried settings things up 1-fingered for my last couple of rides but I've hit my knuckes a couple of times and it totally destroys my concentration/confidence to just use 1 finger/lever). I suppose it might be flex in the levers as well but hopefully I can get this set up better without having to throw money at the problem to make it go away.

you should put tape a fingers-width item like a sharpie to your lever so when youre setting your throw youll have it set with some clearance. that has worked in teh past for me..

There is a slight jump in my rear wheel. So I have the wheel and I'm looking at the side with the jump. I loosen the spoke with where the jump is and tighten the two on either side. Correct? Which way do I turn for lose/tight? rightly tighty?

I've read I should do just quarter turns until it's straight. Once it's straight, do I just leave the spoke tension as it is?

Use the DivX player or something like VLC - it's a video track.

I don't like cell phones, but I have serious lust for the iPod Touch.

i got the HTC touch, cheaper and more versatile IMHO. you dont get the fancy multiple touch crap, but you can tweak the hell out of it too. Just get the one with wi-fi and GPS built in if you go for it. Telus is not to be trusted, they screwed me out of those features.

The nice thing will be the iphone will likely be the 3rd gen one. As for hte cost of the plan, I bet $79 and $99 respectively (assuming they are similarly to ATT)

cool vid...nicely done, a little BlairWitch-O-Vision for me but the nausea has subsided.
I think there is too much in the iPhone, lose it /break it and you are pooched, unless someone comes up with online based backups. Yea I can see Rogers raping consumers over the data. See how long it's taken them to try and make sure they are the only players in the game here? I hate those bastids.

Mere words cannot convey my hate for the cellular industry. It's an industry built on lies and infested with sleaze-balls. My university program is 1/2 wireless curriculum, and we've covered cellular wireless technologies - I can honestly say that 1) everything possible is done to milk customers of every penny possible, and 2) they do not expand or upgrade willingly; IOW: if they could have gotten away with charging $150/mo for AMPS, they'd still be doing it today.

Welcome to capitalism at its finest, boys. Your first mistake was the naive notion that these giant companies give a **** what you think.

Anyone else get an invite (fbook) to this bike race thing at the Central Tech track this Sunday?

All I needed to hear was "you get charged for incoming calls" on my first cellphone inquiry here to learn that it's full of crap. Not to say the UK phone providers aren't as unscrupulous, but this just seems like ******** logic to me, yet it's the way of things and nobody questions - I don't get how *I* am responsible for paying a long distance telemarketing call TO me that I don't even want in the first place.

I'm not a fan of cellphones - it was years until I got one in the UK, I have one now as it's my only phone I kinda need to be contactable - my only desire of my phone: To make and receive calls - and it works, so far

No invite for me.

Bikes, bikes and stuff. Oh yeah, CM video is uploading/processing on Vimeo.

I'm supposed to be going mtbing on Sunday already, so I might be out cold on the couch by 9:00. If not I might stop by. No idea who the organizers are or whether they actually have permission from Central Tech, however. Seeing as how I don't recognize anyone else except Alex on the list of confirmed guests I'm guessing it's not anyone from the usual race/messenger scene.
