So what happened to all of those 'let's go for a ride on Friday'? I mention green beer and everybody freaks. You ain't from south Boston because there they know how to make green beer. I would think that the big trucks are rolling into southy right now to stock up the parlors for the binge tomorrow. And in Chicago the river is already flowing green.
Of course I drink Guiness and Single Malt and anything else that has a reasonble kick to keep me pedalling smoothly. I'll be at the Cavern at 1:00pm on Friday if anyone else wishes to hit the streets for our own pre-alley kitten ride. I'll be riding fixed of course. |

Word - I resigned from my job two weeks ago, and I'm on my last days here, so I might just bail early and head for the cavern around 1 meself... |

I still have this irrational fear of aluminum... like I'm going to bonk it the wrong way and fold it like a tincan, and then whoops... no more bike for me! Would you say that their steel track frame is too steep for street? On another (non fixed! sorry!) note, Cavernmech, you wouldn't happen to have a set of 32h shimano 7-spd hubs, would you? I'm building up a geared bike for a friend of mine this weekend... |

Dang... that's kinda what I figured. Road, definitely. The limiting factor here is that the frame is 126mm (more like 125 now that it's been powdercoated), and I'm not much in the mood to cold set it - seems like too much of a hassle. Tried it once on an old Miele using a piece of threaded bar and some nuts (screwing the nuts outward to spread the stays, and the level of paranoia was just too high, not to mention that I couldn't seem to get it to take a set. Is it possible to space an 8spd hub down to 126mm? And mount a 7spd cassette on it? Y'know... I'll just call you about it... |

i know this is a fixed and SS forum, but anyway, my $0.02: i've run an 8-speed, 130 spaced 105 road hub on my road frame which is spaced 126 with no problems. the stays will spread open enough for you to get the hub in there. if you're frame is aluminum then that's a different story, but i don't know of many aluminum frames spaced 126. it's only 4mm. plus, good luck getting 7 speed shifers, unless you already have them and then ignore my advice. |

Thanks Cavernmech and monsieur Whitehorn for the sage advice to just jam it in there :) I think I'll do just that... I like hassle-free solutions... they're beer-compatible :) YAY! |
Yahhhhhh that Rossin frame looks good. No track ends :/
If you guys are going to meet on Friday i'll ride down (non-fixed don't hurt me). What's happening!?!? http://www.under-the-weather.ca/images/Group.jpg We should get us a picture like that, except substitute the people with us. Sssss-sonambulant? |

I also have no idea how to price this thing - I've seen'em go built up with campy record stuff for up to $1200 on ebay, but I wouldn't begin to know how to price it as a frame and fork - another factor that inclines me to try to work a straight trade for something equivalent that fits. Wishful thinging maybe :(

A one-year ride sounds like a lot of fun. Sunday actually works with my schedule so I'll be able to make it out. Just stay ahead of me at all times - otherwise you might get hit with some sneeze spray and catch this plague I've been attacked by.
Side note #1: Cycle Therapy's got a job opening for an experienced salesperson. We're looking for someone who's worked in a cycling environment before and has retail experience. Full-time is preferred but part-time is also cool. If any of you guys/32flavours are interested, come by and introduce yourself. If you know anyone who might fit the bill, pass the word along please. Side Note #2: Anyone have any experience with fundraising? As you can see in my sig (Somnabulent's too) we're taking part in the bike rally to Montreal for Aids research. Aside from straight up talking to people and asking for money, we were thinking about events or "whatever" (no, not BJs) that we could do to raise some cash. You fellers are a bunch of smart potatoes so I'm hoping you've done something like this before and have GADS of ideas to put forth to help us out w/ our mission. The other night Somnabulent was scribbling away on his notes for a meeting we were at and I saw him write down "alleycat" as a joke, but then he wrote down "Goldsprints" too ... which actually seems like an idea that could work well. Any thoughts on what it takes to get a Goldsprints tourney up and running? Pre-thanks for any ideas. Aaand ... work time for me. - Mike |
from the site....
"Tired of waking up to gun shots, breaking up with young hearts, blazen up the dumb charts, staying up from sun ta dark, hataz is mad cause they papa ends where mine dun starts" chest hurts....can't stop...laughing I love the bit in the news where he can't pass his GEC...**** this is hilarious. I'm gonna throw away all my music and follow these guyz on tour....lol *BLAM...shoots himself in the foot* It's like a gift that keeps on giving..... :roflmao: " Flamez firebird would **** on a viper, camaro, and ya volvoz suckaz. Trust us, we have raced and haven't lost yet. The movie 'fast and furious' is basically a documentary on flamez life. Its like they read his mind and made a movie bout it. They betta be lucky flame rich enough dat he aint gotta sue em for copyright infringementz. Don't get mad cause a firebird on dubz would dust ya rust bucketz." I'm a little worried about a big nasty reciprical saw having a go at my frame/seat post situation BUT it would make short work of the aluminum post jammed it there but I'm soooo worried about messin the inside of the frame. |
