Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

They are good, but if you want complete, there are other options out there.

It had a number, I'm sure there are tandem forum historians that know it.

I just know the 41, 33 and 26.

Here is something you cyclists don't probably know. While cyclists can "upgrade" their bikes and equipment to buy speed, swimmers do the exact same thing with their suit. These technology suits are hydrophobic, offer insane compression and also are very buoyant pulling the swimmers hips more out of the water. The range for consumers is actually pretty affordable, some start at $100 and some are over $500, but not many. Only thing is that they only last for a small amount of races. They might only last 2 meets, maybe less than 10 events. Which can come down to $300 for less than 10 minutes of race time

They banned the full body suits, for the huge advantage they offered. I think the ruling is that a males suit cannot go over the belly button or below the knee caps.

Anyways I bring this up as I am purchasing my suit for this year tonight, and it is quite exciting. Cool thing about the suit, is that is has carbon fiber designed into the suit to offer more compression.

My wife has the same problem. Her saddle always seems low and that she can't apply the proper amount of power. She also gets pain in her hip joints, not sure why that is, but she doesn't get it on her singles. She already has a setback seat post on our tandem but she still can't get back far enough to get in the proper leg position over the cranks.

Anyway, no real suggestions other than that you are not alone.
I get pain in my hips as well when my saddle is too low, I think it has something to do with the track ones legs take when pedalling. Can be a fraction of a millimeter off and I would notice it.

That Vette is about as perfect a sports car as I could ever imagine. Drove it with the targa roof panel out tonight. That will be fun in the warmer weather.

Incorrect. Late model Vettes don't break a lot. The alternator on this car went in large part because the guy only drove the car 3K miles annually. That's hard on electrical systems, particularly on a car with an much electronic stuff as this Vette. I'll drive it more consistently.

As for new wheels, these are fine, my guess is I wind up trading up to a later model used C7 Vette within 3-4 years anyway.

Nice pic of the car, but I am more interested in the view you have from the top of Mt Doom. I've never seen it before. Any other pix?

Thanks. Will do. Love the Bike Snob.

In the dark ages, I rode a fixed from the middle of October till the first of February. I had a complete set of Campy cogs and chain rings to change at my whim. Back then, I had ample options for frames as I always had one lying around in various states of dis-use. But through a massive cleanup and sell off, my shelves are bare and I have to start anew.

I'm not a fan of white bikes. Especially the ones with a matte finish. The tri bike I put together on Monday was matte white. I washed my hands like five times and still had to wash off finger prints.

@3alarmer or @LesterOfPuppets can one convert one of those Bianchi Pistas into a geared road bike? I'd be tempted to do an n+1 for one of dem.

My guess would be dampness-induced corrosion. Electricity and water do not play well together.
