Glad you're intact, LAJ.
:) |
Thank you, Heathpack. This one messed with me this weekend. I'm glad I just saw the aftermath while I was there, and didn't see that clip til today.

Missed shaking the cowbell, LAJ. Good to hear you survived.
Went to an Ethiopian lunch party hosted by the wonderful sisters of Ras Kassas. More black kids per sq ft than anywhere else in Boulder today. |

I finally got the power seat working in the minivan yesterday, so the little lady was finally able to drive it today! I have a turn signal socket on order, sure hope it gets here soon so we can hit the highway!
Also replaced the cabin air filters. Shoulda gotten video of me shaking all the crap outta the olde ones - soooo dirty! |

A lot of damage and some substantial injuries. Brent Murphy, the photographer, is staying one more night in ICU due to his head injury. I've emailed him, and he's pretty down, but has his wits about him, so that's good. One other fellow I know has a destroyed bike, chipped teeth, and many stitches and road rash. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VMO...ature=youtu.be |
Yikes, worst pileup I've seen in a while!

Louisville is a love/hate thing for me, and every year the road gets worse, if that's possible. I don't have the guts of the youngsters, so it is what it is. |

Head trauma is no joke. Really it should mess with you to see something like that, it should make any of us think twice. The mummy and I talked a fair bit about racing safety this weekend, does the "system" do enough? And related topics like "how do people learn?" Always interesting conversation. And we began to plot out our Northern Sierras altitude training week. Sounds delicious. :) |
And...There off!
Happy National Pigs in a Blanket Day! |

I spent 1:40 on the trainer yesterday. That's literally the longest I can possibly stand such torture, and I only managed that long because I was watching a good IndyCar race.
|
No riding for me this weekend. Repaired the mower, cut grass, removed old tree stump, planted 3 new trees with another waiting for me at home. So at least I got some exercise.
Didn't make it to the GP race in Austin. I just wasn't feeling a trip just after the work travel earlier in the week. That and I was on the fence ever since I realized there wouldn't be a flat track event during the weekend. Looks like I didn't miss anything *too* major after reading the results. |

40+3, valygrl. The construction deal was a big issue for me, and totally on me, as well. Going from a sketchy 2 lane to a sketchy 1 lane bugged me big time. I wasn't nearly as aggressive as I needed to be, so I slowly worked my way backwards. Of course, every lap was a massive acceleration out of that corner, and it began to be a single line. I got caught behind a couple guys that cornered worse than I was cornering, and that was it for that.
After seeing footage of the wreck yesterday, I'm very happy I was aware of what was going on yesterday, and finished on two wheels today. It's as brutal as anything I've seen in bike racing. |

About as exciting as a Grateful Dead concert, eh?
Not only are they a Dead cover band, they look like them (old grey haired hippies with potbellies) and apparently re-create exact concerts from the past. Cool! Except I hated it. |

And yes, head injuries are no joke. My wife's grandfather was a very healthy, active older guy and had a tumble while skiing and bumped his head. He kind of brushed it off, finished his day, went home and then got dizzy. He was hospitalized and died shortly after. |

I was about to say I wouldn't know, but then I remembered I took wifey to a "Dark Star" concert for V-Day a few years ago. Unlike the Phish shows she's brought me to, I wasn't able to fall asleep because the venue was standing room only.

Forza Vale!!! No wins, but a good start to the season given how he looked in testing. If the young'uns continue to crash, he could just win one more world title. Especially if he gets the hang of the tires later in the year and wins at some of his favorite tracks on merit.
I have high hopes for Assen. It still blows my mind when I think about how long he has been around and remained competitive. |

I have high hopes for Assen. . . . the problem was Zarco. "He’s very fast, he rides very well and has great potential but this isn’t Moto2 and if you want to overtake you overtake in a different way and he always arrives too delayed. He needs to stay a little more quiet!” I love that ending. Typical Vale! |
