You passed the background check?

As a matter of fact, I have been background checked for Illinois healthcare workers and by the FBI for travel. I don't have a TSA pre-check or anything but was checked by the FBI back in 2010 several years ago in Lisbon when Obama was making a visit. No idea why, but my wife and I had to surrender our passports over night before entering the country from Spain on our tandem bicycle for a background check.

Since that time, every boarding pass we've gotten has been marked TSA pre-check. At first, I thought it was coincidence but it's happened every time we've flown and we fly a few times a year. I asked a ticket person one time and she said she didn't know - just lucky, she guessed. Whatever, I'm not complaining.

Or at least one 4# shepherd's pie from Costco.

You are hot for some Shepherd's Pie, aren't you?

Not to be confused with Pie al Pastor, however.

Maybe just 11 pounds, as you're pretty svelte.

True. I'd suggest 11 pounds as well, but maybe add a late night cheddar brat just in case.

If not, datlas will swing by later to go over the latest treatments for a black eye and busted teeth. :o

Speaking of broken teeth, how much $ to do you think the confidential United settlement was for? His lawyers went so far as to say nice things about the United CEO, which was probably part of the settlement agreement.

Dr. Dao can probably now afford a Time RXRS.

My guess is M$2 on top of all expenses.

Is that $2 million?

Seems reasonable. Hopefully he didn't sign a contingency fee agreement.

Dan333SP 04-28-17 01:11 PM

No hard feelings. That's good.

I wish an airline would punch my teeth out.

When do you NOT sign a contingency fee agreement and what other option would there be.

Seems like this guy would have benefitted from a hourly contract with his lawyers. I'm not sure if that's possible in the ambulance chasing world, but it would have saved him a ton of cash.

If the lawyers took a third or whatever because their fee was contingent on the settlement, they couldn't have done much work in that short a period of time to earn it.

Nope. @rpen always is the one to point out the M often means thousand...

Amazing. Steam locos are best seen in cold environments for obvious reasons. It's cool that they're running that thing without modern diesel "helpers" as they seem to with a lot of historic locomotives.

That's a long horizon you got there.

This is a worrisome precedent though. No one was smart, in this case and everything that could have been done wrong, was done wrong. The scariest thing I get out of that whole mess, is we now may be flying on a whole plane full of Dr. Dao's. It's now OK to ignore the rules set forth on an airplane.
