We've decided to go by bus this time, since neither of us wants to participate in a five hour drive across the peninsula. We've also decided to catch the local bus here in Tixkokob, instead of driving to Merida for the express. Total travel time will be pretty much equivalent. Air conditioned comfort without the behind the wheel stress. Apart from the colorful plastic wristbands, we're looking forward to it.

So the fact that tomorrow is the Cinco de Mayo is a coincidence, right? I heard it's not a big deal in Mexico.

People hate on all inclusive resorts for some reason, but they're some of the best BANG FOR BUCK in vacations available.

Also, maybe it's just me, but I'd much rather go to a nice resort than spend the same length of time on a cruise ship.

Coincidence. Not even mentioned in these parts.

3/4 of them the past few months though. Long cycling layoff.

And my wife shops on Skyauctions.com, for even better bang for the buck. It's nice to not have to think about those things. You get hungry, you walk over to one of the poolside restaurants and you're set. The food does generally leave something to be desired. But we're simple folk, and it's also great to not have to dress up. Ugh!

I'm taking neither socks nor shoes.

Understandable. It's a lengthy procedure.

Have fun. We're headed to Playa in three weeks to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Married 13 years ago in Playa.

No adults only resorts for us anymore. We have a screecher at the pool.

Never fun to get ticketed for that sort of thing. Your mistake was being tied to the tree.. Should've cut rope and played the 'catch me if ya can coppers' as you floated down river at 2.2mph.

I'd pay to watch that, along with the 4A stuff...

I like the mental image of this. Unfortunately, they had a little patrol boat giving tickets to people tubing or canoeing with beer cans that same day.

I think the enforcement is mainly to prevent littering in the park system, because a lot of people just toss the cans in the river. All well and good, and also solved by pouring the cans into a camelback at home :D

Well, that's ironic, because once they ticket the first person everyone else is going to immediate dump their stuff in the river to make sure they don't get a ticket.

We'll do our best. Good luck catching fish. We'll miss you dearly.

Reminds me I need to get my fishing license.

Drat! Week long power outage plus 25 mph winds caused cancellation of fishing. Went straight to NOLA. Will have to be satisfied with just the eating and drinking.

Honestly, I thought I'd hate it, but it's good. It's basically finely chopped cauliflower and you just heat it for 5-6 minutes in a pain with some olive oil, then you're good to go. It soaks up whatever sauce you're using for the rest of the dish. The texture is different than rice, of course, but it is way less filling.

Why would you eat something that is less filling...on purpose?
