They had a really good year due to a really good draft. You gotta give them that much. When's the last time you saw two rookies turn a team totally around?

They had a successful draft, no doubt. I just think it's early to say it was an "epic success" or even one of their best ever, if it turns out that both of these new stars end up as busts.

And yea, at least 1 SB win with these guys making meaningful contributions has to be the yardstick there.

Denalis are kind of pricey.

And that's with crappy WaWa 87 octane gas, can your Corvette say that??

I can verify. We had a 95 SL1 that was still running when a very generous person gave us 500 bucks as a trade-in when we bought the Pontiac Vibe. It didn't get great mileage until I discovered it had two temp sensors, one for the gauge and one for the EFI, when diagnosing a rough start condition. Once I replaced that sensor, we got 30+ mpg all day long for pretty much 90% city driving.

That's putting the cart before the horse, though. What if Zeke destroys his knee and Dak never throws more TDs than picks for the rest of his career?

Zeke also seems to have the possibility of pulling some dumb off-the-field move that sees him shipped off to some team that tolerates screw-ups. Oh wait - he's already there. Never mind.

A successful draft produces multiple key contributors to either ongoing success or to a championship. Maybe the 'Boys draft will be monumental, but right now the only results that you've got to show for it are 13 wins and a playoff loss. You're talking as if their Canton busts have already been cast - give it time.

It's my opinion that a draft can't be responsible for that much success. It can be a part of it, but you can't draft your way to a superbowl. We already got all that could be gotten out of a draft. Anything more takes way more effort than just a fantastic draft... and thus shouldn't be used to judge the success of a draft anyways.

Continuing the analogy, we've already made a big profit off of the money we put in this bank account. If we withdraw everything now, it doesn't change the fact that we already made a profit.

Fair enough. I just hate the Cowboys, so I'll say last year's draft was decent but not epic until both those guys end up in the HoF
:crash:

In other news, Jay Cutler is looking for a job.

Dan333SP 04-25-17 01:54 PM

And yes, it's ironic that I complain about how annoying all the draft talk is, and then spend half an hour debating the draft. I need some trainer time to purify myself.

sbxx1985 04-25-17 01:54 PM

I'm going to get soaked riding home. So it goes. Lester's snow is headed here.

So did Dez, but the longer you're with the 'boys the more you wise up to that crap. Dez is now a model citizen. I think that kind of thing is pretty normal when you give a probably not really smart kid millions of dollars and a lot of attention. Takes some time to grow up.

rjones28 04-25-17 01:55 PM

It's not drafty here. Just saying.

LOL. I just cancelled my zwift account. The two months a year I get free with my strava account are all the zwifting I can take.

In other GM news, I think the neighbor might have gotten a Camaro.

Then you have low standards. Most teams are looking/hoping for personnel that'll provide at least medium-term productivity at their position. Again - you may very well have that, but one season is too soon to declare that. Come back when it's time to pick up the options on their rookie deals.

LAJ 04-25-17 02:06 PM

Still running 10 speed, so I needed another spacer ring for for my November 11 speed wheel that showed up yesterday. While there, I figured that wheelset was deserving of a new set of quick releases, so Zipp it is. I should have asked them to include a new qr in the box, as the one that came with is but a wee nub now.

Will it look stale if the rear wheel says November, and the front says Rail 52?

That's not a good indicator, either. Hell, we may have used Zeke up by the time his rookie option is up, and that's still success. Murray was a great success, but we used him up pretty good and then let him drain the iggle's bank account. I hope Zeke has a loooong productive career, but that's super rare in the modern NFL. RB's with long careers now also spend a good portion of that on the bench with injuries.
