I appreciate my Kudo very much, thank you. :)

I like the Grateful Dead's country/folk/blues stuff. Don't care for the psychedelic boogie stuff much.
This is probably my favorite record of theirs, followed by Workingman's Dead. |

I have the low profile (20 mm) tubular rims. Very nice. And backed up by eBay/Pay Pal.

Saw those, crazy light. Did you get the rims only and build the wheels yourself, or did you get the complete wheelset?

So, I've not been here all that long and I am intrigued by a few things and need to know the answers to the following questions:
1.) Pepe: What's the story with the cats? 2.) Seeds: What's the story with how you wound up in Yucatan? 3.) LesterofPuppets (AKA LoP): Extraordinary nickname that always makes me smile when I see it--how did you come up with it? Thank you. |

http://i.imgur.com/0SKfBRz.jpg I foster kittens for the local shelter. We take care of them until they are healthy and big enough to be spayed/neutered and put up for adoption. I am currently taking care of one mother and her five kittens (not the ones pictured.) I think we're probably in the triple digits now of number of cats that have gone through our apartment. |

He's also uninformed about carbon, so he also hates that. Scarbo, PepeM is only allowed a US Visa on the condition that he live in squalor with 30 kittens at all times. It's a complicated arrangement. |

Yeah, the 190 g rear and (I dunno) about 70 g front. CX-Ray spokes and alloy nipples. Do you build wheels?

I see the cuties! Thank you, Pepe. And kudos! :)

My number is a huge secret that has nothing to do with a particular Ferrari racing machine that I have always loved. |

As regards crabon/plastic . . . . I'll try not to be disrespectful to others who (that?) feel differently.

CF composite is a valuable construction material for bicycle frames and components. What does the word "plastic" have to do with anything? The proof is in the properties, not the name. Does plastic make sense in Boeing Dreamliners, fighter jets, etc.? Engineers don't care about the word plastic, only what plastic can do.
And if that's not enough, under certain conditions it will shatter much like many plastics do. To use your own words, the proof is in the properties. So is there any wonder that reasonably reasonable people see it as plastic? Come on now, work with me here. And please don't cause me to lose all respect for you by dragging the aerospace industry into it. That's a red herring if there ever was one, a desperate 41 tactic. Doesn't fly. :innocent: Sure, CF is great for building bikes as light as possible which proves very advantageous for racers and folks who get a thrill out of climbing hills. Personally I doubt that even CF would get me to enjoy hills. But my other personal problem with CF is that I just can't see myself having to be so constantly conscious of the condition of my frikkin bicycle. I know there will be denials, but the fact of the matter is MOST people can't be as carefree with CF as they can with a metal bike. All evidence points to the fact it isn't quite as durable . . . almost, but not quite. I just can't be bothered with that. But that's just me. Sorry, but I won't bother to argue further about it, just wanted to have my say and offer a rebuttal to what I saw as an attempted whitewash. The world is complex, few things come with no disadvantages at all. We can only choose what personally works best for us. :) |
I guess I will start calling steel carbon, since it is one of its essential building blocks.
Turns out I own a carbon bike after all. EDIT: Hell, I can even call it plastic, since they both share an essential building block! |

Speaking of aerospace... I flew on a 787 for the first time on my Tokyo -> Bangkok leg.
It really is significantly nicer to fly on. The interior humidity is higher, the relative altitude pressure is lower (because crabon!!!), the wings flex in this beautiful manner while in the air, and the windows are much larger than average. Planes are planes, but if I were able to pick flights based on aircraft and not price, I'd pick that plane every time. Oh, and my last leg was on United. They did not smash my face into my armrest. |

My GF does try to choose flight based on the plane model, but she prefers Airbuses. |
