Minus the wholesale slaughter of animals and people, I suppose.

What's not modern about that?

Very obvious where modern stadium design comes from. Hard to tell the difference between then and now.

To be alive is to be insecure.

To deny that is, well, vapid.

I hate to bring this back to cycling, but... do any of you guys ever notice particular saddle pain after being off the bike for a week or two?

I haven't changed anything with my bibs or my saddle angle/height or whatever, but my first ride back after my trip was a 2 hour group ride on Sunday and ever since then I've had what feels like a deep bruise on my left sitbone area. It's not a saddle sore, it just feels like a bruise and is super tender. Makes riding pretty awkward, I'm sitting semi-side saddle and standing up a lot.

^^^^^

Yes. You will acclimate again in short order.

Saddle pain is one of the few things I do not have. Soreness, but no tingling. My feet.. lots of problems with that at first until I found a good set of shoes.

Could definitely going TPing in that.

Unfortunately the battery compartment was slightly crushed in the crash. Wish I had a slide hammer to pull it back out a bit. Might see if I can remove the window washer fluid tank today then see if that gives me enough room to swing a sledge hammer in there.

Yesterday I looked into getting getting a battery relocation kit but decided that was too much trouble and money for this ride.

Two hours might be a little much after 2 weeks off. Sounds like you might need a little more time off now, though.

yeah--that's the irony of the situation. You're a bit sore so it is not totally comfortable to ride initially after having taken a long break. Eventually one works through it.

I felt like **** on the first ride after the two weeks off, but that was because of fitness, not the saddle. Maybe all of those $200 daily "massages" reset your tolerance level.

I should probably rest it, but I t'aint scared. It's also absolutely ideal riding weather this week. I was thinking of finding some numbing balm or something and just pushing on. :innocent:

My fitness felt fine on Sunday, strangely. Didn't make any moves but I was able to hang on with the fast kids and bridge gaps when my buddies tried making fun of me for doing no work. It's just a butt sensitivity thing I guess

WhyFi 04-13-17 09:43 AM

Side note: felt awesome on the ride yesterday, my second ride since the two weeks off. It was a pleasant night & day turn from the first ride.

Dan333SP 04-13-17 09:45 AM

This is why I can't skip rides this week. Dawn this morning, sorry for the HDR-y shot-

Stunning! Go ride and hang the soreness!

:rolleyes:Well, squirrely or not, it is just awful--awful, I tell you--when people start feeling like they have to apologize for having life experiences and having accumulated a bit of (non-Google) knowledge in life, no matter how short it may be to that point.

Let's put it like this, people who truly "know everything" are few and far between in REAL life, they're even rarer on the interwebz. They don't proliferate nearly as much as internet sites would lead you to conclude. In MY experience, many of these very knowledgeable people are too busy to waste valuable time on the internet arguing with strangers. WTF do they gain in that?

The rest are frauds, looking to be something on the internet that they can't be in real life. And the frauds proliferate because of the gullible.

All that said, I do admire and respect the very knowledgeable cyclists that congregate on THIS site. Because of the popularity of this site the frauds tend to get weeded out over time. And I am so amazed at times at the generosity and benevolence of individuals who will share their time and knowledge with others here. It's truly admirable.

But let's be clear, if you share some knowledge and others don't agree, I'm inclined to wonder why a truly accomplished individual would waste their time arguing with an idiot. It doesn't take long to realize "Hey, I'm dealing with an idiot, let me cut my losses, I've got better things to do". It's got to be pretty important to you to hang around the internet trying to be "right" all day long.

At any rate, I've spent too much time on this, gotta run.

I thoroughly enjoyed Rome on my visit a few of years ago. I'm not a city person by any means, but that is one place I could see myself living. Shame it's so expensive (at least according to House Hunters International)/I'm so cheap.

I might have the opportunity to go back this summer, and am also considering taking a side trip to Croatia after that to finally meet some family members. And then yesterday I get an Adventure Cycling magazine in the mail...crap, I need a better bike.

The funny thing is the people who wondered about it were all the least squirrelly people out there.

BTW congrats on the car. I've never had a minivan on my radar, but coach has one as his bike-hauling car and I will admit they are pretty ideal for that purpose. I wouldn't mind having one myself at some point.

Although I am currently happy with the vehicles we have- bikes included. ;)

topslop1 04-13-17 09:49 AM

I'm swinging a 35lbs kettelbell. Thinking I wanna get 100 reps in the morning and 100 reps at night, but we'll see what tolerance I have for muscle soreness. To think I used to swing a 70lbs'er around for 20+ reps in a go.. start slowly.

Also, slammed on the brakes while transferring kettelbell from post office to home since someone ran a red light. Kettelbell fell off seat, smashed my Nalgene on the floor. Good lord giveth and taketh.

Kudos! But not on Strava, because I'm too lazy to go look for your ride.

Yeah! I was going to throw the HDR thing up in your face for what you said in that other thread! :D

And LAJ sold Bunny a frame already, so he's out.

I'm a big fan, too. I have a friend who refuses to go back to there but I loved it and would love to go back.
