I obviously like toys but, like HP, new functionality is much easier to justify vs incremental improvement of performance (with the same basic functionality). There's just too much cool stuff out there for me to try and chase the pointy end of performance in all of them.

That reminds me, I should watch Chinatown again.
Great movie! Yes, it is all about the water wars in LA back in the day when Mr. Mulholland started what has become so commonplace now--the THEFT of our water in the north. :crash: |

WaWa is another example of companies that figure out that best and biggest are not the same. Neither are most profitable and biggest. I know some here disagree, but it is how I feel about In-n-Out compared to MickeyD.

Absolutely, this is exactly it.
Most of the people who behave like ******s do that because they're trying to impress someone else or inveigle themselves into a group they want to belong to or because they want everyone to know that they're smarter or more talented or whatever when compared to everyone else. It's a weird slice of life. |

I picture so many of these types with a handy separate browser tab for Google, open all day long, and auto-opens to that tab every morning. Perfect for giving the impression you know it all. Very important.. |

I have biked a lot in the state. Places like Sheetz don't compare. The only places I have visited that are comparable are some Conoco c-stores out west, but in some cases they also serve as the local grocery stores because there is nothing else close, so you would expect them to have a wider selection. |

Bingo. Pissing contests everywhere you look. Why? Because somebody wants to be top dog on this or that topic.

Ah "the grass is greener" syndrome. Haha I somehow am immune to this. I like all my bikes just fine. My eyes wander when it comes to maybe getting another type of bike, one that serves some purpose that none of my current bikes do (like say cat hauling).
Btw when I went to get my bike back the person in the shop said that was the 'fastest' Trek 1.2 he had ever seen. I guess most people that buy entry level bikes don't bother upgrading them. |

Very important.. I think there is something inherently about cycling that either attracts or creates insecurity in people. Yesterday on my cycling club's FB somebody made a comment about an "experienced" rider being "squirrely" and how "everybody needs to be receptive to feedback" in a group riding scenario. Lol based on the immediate responses, 17 people thought that post was talking about them. It was funny to watch it unfold. |

Minus the wholesale slaughter of animals and people, I suppose. |

:rolleyes:Well, squirrely or not, it is just awful--awful, I tell you--when people start feeling like they have to apologize for having life experiences and having accumulated a bit of (non-Google) knowledge in life, no matter how short it may be to that point.
