My GF does try to choose flight based on the plane model, but she prefers Airbuses.

Look at the maximum designed deflection on these babies-

Granted, in normal flight it's not nearly that much, but it is a beautiful aircraft.

3.) LesterofPuppets (AKA LoP): Extraordinary nickname that always makes me smile when I see it--how did you come up with it?

Thank you.

Way back in the mists of time, we would listen to Metallica on occasion. One friend would always replace "master" with "Lester" while singing along.

Obey your Lester. Lester. Lester of Puppets is pulling the strings...

I was once concertmaster of an HS orchestra that won a national championship... but I don't really listen to classical any more. Maybe once or twice a year.

When I did it was Tchaikovsky or Brahms. I used to be able to play most of T's violin concerto, but now I can only remember the second movement (which is particularly good for evaluating instruments, otherwise I wouldn't remember it at all).

I'm not sure which is more annoying. Having your team be three games below .500 this early in the baseball season or the fans who keep saying "There's 153 games left and we can still make the post-season". Or maybe it's the player who said before the season began that he's out there to have a good time and he doesn't take things too seriously because it's just baseball. He's batting .094 now so I wonder if he's still having a good time and/or if it might be time to take things a little more seriously.

My favorite violin and piano concertos are those by Johannes Brahms.

I don't want to talk any more about music because once I start you'll never shut me up. :D

For the record, I'm preparing to go out for a 40-50 mile ride on my carbon bike with aluminum wheels. Are the dissimilar materials going to be a problem?

Yes, but only when you get into metric century territory. You should be fine just doing a metric quad-dime.

Personally, I'd ride at night when nobody could see me if I were mixing it up like that.

There is. I study and teach (ugrad and grad) the history of English (the language generally and its grammar), and its contemporary grammatical structure (descriptive linguistics), for a living.

Thing is, I tend to prattle on and on about it if asked; most folks find it boring:D

'Who' is the 'correct' relative pronoun, by the way, in SWE (Standard Written English) at present when introducing a relative clause (restrictive or non-restrictive) with a human antecedent. Robert is right, though: 'that' is making substantial inroads in spoken English, and may well generalize to co-exist with or even replace 'who' over time in SWE.

This accords with historical usage. Prior to the C18th 'who', 'that', and 'which' had pretty free distribution. The present-day rules for distribution of the relative pronouns were invented in the 17/1800s, the result of the same impulse to 'rationalize' the language that resulted in such absurdities as the rule against double/multiple negation and so on.

Do not, for the love of God, allow the wheels and the frame or fork to touch.

A little out of true rim, and some water off the road or sweat, and the galvanic corrosion could lock the wheel and lead to an all time epic assplosion.

Yeah. This is the Passover, too. This is tantamount to having milk with meat! Yikes!

Took me a bit, but I finally figured out that 28450 is the ZIP code for Lake Waccamaw, NC. I've been there (almost)!

Big problem. You should send me those wheels immediately. Or even better, the carbon bike. :innocent:

That don't make no sense.

I did not know that. I've never been there and the closest I've been was traveling north on I-95.

Oh? I took a linguistics class in college. Can't say it was among my favourites. I'm sure your class is better.
