Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have a new Shimano BB, so I took off the old one and after a little cleanup inside the BB shell, threaded the new one on. I went to tighten it with my BB tool and...WTF? The new Shimano BB cups have a slightly smaller outside diameter, leaving my tool obsolete!

I did not get the memo about this change, so I went to my local Performance to get a new tool. Apparently they did not get the memo either!

I got the cups on tight enough with a pair of channel-locks, but I will have to buy the tool ASAP.

Is this change news to the general population?
That's odd. Understandable if maybe the BB were third-party, not OEM. But for Shimano to change it would be very strange.

Embarking on a month-long plane and car odyssey today. First stop Park City for a week. Checking it out for the future to see if it could improve on our now abondoned Lake Tahoe experience of the last 17 years. We will hike, sun, and eat.

A month? Whoa. Have fun... or something. Long trips are weird for me. It's great to be someplace else for the first week or so, then I just want to get home where I can really unwind, then I hit a stride where I never want to go back home and then...

Anyway, safe and fun journey!

Thanks. I know what you mean. The 4-6 week stays with kids and grandkids at Lake Tahoe were different, because it was like being in a second home. But this is going to be moving every 2-7 days. Not my favorite plan, but it just somehow developed like this.

It's a new world out there. I functionally have no memory at all. Hopefully it's a temporary thing.

Good catch, it's misused frequently for the dramatic effect. It's actually a Red-tailed Hawk call.

I like POC, since it vents well, fits well, and is highly rated in testing versus others.

You just have to go back to the start of Addiction 1 to get some context for what happened since.
