Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Indeed. They're kind of fast.

I have a friend like this and I know our MDs could chime in, too.

My friend: Doc gave me BP medicine on Monday. On Tuesday, I found a pimple so I quit taking it.

I'm joking but he's stopped taking numerous meds for even more idiotic reasons and he's not afraid to tell anyone how they shouldn't take their meds, too.

How about a little injection of humor? I don't know how many of you are old enough (Dennis T, Dennis T, I'm talking to you.) to remember a specific Chrysler commercial back in the day. In an effort to promote the smoothness of the ride, they filmed a diamond cutter cutting a diamond in the back seat of a Chrysler driving down a bumpy road. His exclamation that ended the commercial was, "Perfect!"

Well, in their first(?) or third(?) season the folks at SNL just couldn't resist the temptation to spoof that ad. Here is the skit they did:

Installed the DA drivetrain on the steel bike (I'll do the brakes some other time.) I spent a fair amount of time failing at making it shift properly. Then I realized that using the same chain was a bad idea. Put on an old 11-speed chain and it's all good now.

Also mounted my new tubulars. Didn't manage to get them perfectly straight. Will I die?

Probably. Are these going on the Allez? If so, I won't bother asking to have it willed to me, because it'll surely be toast, too.

No, those are for the steel bike. The Allez is still nowhere to be seen.

They said sometime in July since the beginning. Some people already got theirs a few weeks ago though.
