Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The next set of tires I buy will be 23s. I haven't bought any since the late 90s.

Here's the bottom line of cyclists vis-à-vis motorists.

Cycling safety is largely self-regulating.* If a cyclist flouts the law, resulting in an accident, it's likely the cyclist, and the cyclist alone, will be injured (unless he hits a pedestrian).

Meanwhile, if a motorist flouts the law, and has an accident, it's likely the cyclist, and the cyclist alone, will be injured.

So motorists can shove it with their finger-pointing.

Yup. That was the underlying reason for my mention of cyclist vs vehicle weight in my Nextdoor thread, but I wasn't explicit in that point. I'll wait to drop back in and hammer it home at a later time.*

Whew, made it through another weekend, barely.

I grabbed a 6-pack of Dale's pale recovery ales during the major headwind ride home.

That with a side dose of most of them can't drive correctly anyway.
