Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No soup for you

My wife called to inform u me that the air conditioner is falling off the wall. So I called the installer and, while awaiting his arrival, went up on the roof to service the solar water heater in preparation for shutting off the gas heater for the summer.

Cultural haggling can be fun if you're in the right mood, but can also be a huge ******' pain in the ass if you're not.

Than again, what doesn't fit that description?

The new chain (factory lube) was so lovely quiet and smooth on the fake ride this morning. If I get that every ride *and* a clean drivetrain, waxing will be worth faff. Worth all the fafffs.

Most were actually good customers and didn't mind spending the money as long as they got their "discount".
I also worked for an Armenian guy and he hated dealing with other Armenians, for the most part. Some of them were great but others had the idea that they should get a bro-deal just because they were Armenian. Like dealing with family.

I can't imagine. It's hard enough for me to wipe the chain and drip some chain lube once in a while. I have lots of time but don't do much maintenance on my bikes, and they need it.
Might have to do with working on 1000s of cars for 40+ years.

Most people that actually wax cite lower maintenance as one of the benefits. I guess I'll find out soon - wax should be here tomorrow, which means I'd better do some Crock Pot shoppin' today.

When I rode dirt bikes the cheapest guy made more than the next 3 of us put together and had less responsibility. One guy lost his job and was selling his stuff out of desperation. Cheap guy low-balls him for his helmet and tells me how proud he was to beat the guy down on the price. I shamed him into giving the other friend the money he was asking for.

Just consider the likely baseline maintenance effort for people with enough OCD to consider waxing a bicycle chain in the first place.

Bump it up 20, knock it down 10.

There was also an add on fee when the customer parked in front of a bay.

I'm telling ya - I'm not OCD, and the amount of work that I have to go through to have a not grungy drivetrain - we're not talking clean, but merely not grungy - is considerable. Hell, one of the reasons that I wanted the camo shoes was to hide the smudges.
