Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Predators include owls, hawks, red foxes, cats, dogs and humans. Opossums protect themselves from predators by “playing dead,” since most predators will not eat an animal that is already dead. This is actually an involuntary reaction due to shock: the opossum falls onto the ground and lies motionless on its side with its eyes and mouth open, and it awakens when the danger passes. Opossums may also try to bluff predators into thinking they are aggressive by hissing and baring their teeth when feeling threatened. Most opossums are killed by cars because they have poor hearing and eyesight.

Apparently you pronounce possum and opossum the same but they are different animals.

Mind blown!

Never knew that, but have never been down under. Mind blown is right.

you better get right with Santa. You don't have a headlight and your riding apparel is substandard. Maybe if you promise to "reduce the obtuse" you'll get something under the tree and in your stocking.

I got the same thing. Cliff notes from the article says it's rare for possums to have rabies because their body temp is too low for the virus.

Didn't match the hype, but there are lots of nearby lights in unincorporated Knox County.

Oh, and by the way, your lawyer also.
I dont want either one paid by the procedure and independent of outcome. You don’t want your doc well motivated to subject you to risky and expensive procedures or to refer you ever deeper into the belly of the clinico-industrial complex.

500 Gs plus fringe for 35 hrs a week and a parking space for the Merc is all (s)he really wants.

48 years ago tomorrow I watched this live with my brothers and Uncle. Hard to believe it's been that long.

I’ve been through that with a cardiologist, and don’t support that. But, I want my doctors well compensated so they are motivated to work hard and provide well thought out care that is appropriate. I don’t want a doctor that is part of the “good enough” culture because he is disgruntled with his income.

Cardiologists, while nice, smart, people who save lives, are a particular focus of this problem.

I know plenty of docs, some of whom are underpaid and feel it. However, I can’t say I have ever encountered one who was part of the “good enough” culture. If nothing else, the plaintiffs’ bar keeps them on their best game.

Other than the one cardiologist whose sole focus seemed to be to scare the crap out of me unnecessarily and run me through a bunch of unnecessary tests, I’ve never met a medical professional who didn’t seem to genuinely care about their patients.

Come to Texas. Tort reform has virtually killed the med mal bar.

I would be happy with half that income and a spot for the Saturn.
