Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

OMG. I can't even imagine. In my laptop days I always carried around a cute little mouse because I hate trackpads (and the nubbins on ye olde ThinkPads).

I should get a bluetooth mouse for my phone

He is ok too.

Mods have a PITA job and no way they can make everyone happy. As much as I might criticize the filter or other BF issues, I obviously do not want that job. It’s thankless.

Thanks, mods.

I think she was only half-serious, but after seeing me struggle with working on my bike recently, mrs datlas said “why don’t you go ahead and get yourself a new bike??”

Hmm…..

You just go kiss her on the lips, and run to the nearest bike store! Cost be damned. What else are you going to do with all the money you don't spend?

I had the same experience with my wife when she told me to go shopping so she could nap on Saturday. Came home with a carbon 105 equivalent new toy.

I have a pair of Sidi Genius Carbon shoes, probably from 2014, if I remember right. They're great! But the sole is starting to separate at the heel. I mentioned to Mrs.GJ my plan to epoxy the sole back onto the uppers at the heel, and she tried to convince me it was a bad idea, because what if it failed?

So, last week, I mentioned that I was looking for the latest version of the same shoes to buy and looking for a better deal than the $400 list (what I paid for the last ones in 2014), and she about got the vapors and started talking about "what we're going to live on when we retire." So I guess I'll make the Sidis hold together a few more thousand miles.

Also, "...when we retire." "We"? What is this "we" ****?

A little 3M 5200 polyurethane adhesive will fix them right up for $15.

3M 5290 appears to be reflective tape. So I looked up "3M polyurethane adhesive" and the question that occurred to me was what do I do with the rest of it after using about 2 teaspoons?

Today I found two big rolls of 1" adhesive copper foil tape in a box of lab gear someone was tossing. Based on who tossed it, I assume it was used for RF isolation, but there have to be some great uses around the house.

Store it in the freezer for whenever you need a permanent, partially flexible, bond for all eternity. The other hint with that stuff is that it hardens in response to moisture and will not work well in a dry environment. Draping a damp rag over the work helps.

Put around the base of pots used to grow basil, to keep the gastropods out.
