Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So you can buy Bam's bike? Did you sell the Taycan on eBay?

Standard marital conversation:

Me: Do you want to go to Costco with me?
Her: OK
Me: It opens at 10:00 so I'm getting ready.
Her: I'd rather go at 11:00.
Me: I'd rather go at 10 and since I'm going for me, 10 works out best.
Her: OK
Me: It's 10:00, are you ready yet?
Her: No, but I'll be ready by 11:00 just like we decided.

Sold to the local dealer to take advantage of the hot market.

I've been holding this in for almost 24 hours now. I spotted a Mercedes B200 yesterday, just rollin' down the 101 with Saskatchewan plates.

Kudos on the car sale, what's next?

Which reminds me - since The Boys both seem to be allergic to fish (the vertebrate variety, not crustaceans), I really miss fish. I had some nice Petrale sole last month. Maybe the first fish I'd had in 3-4 months.

Oh, well, coming up on 52 years this summer. It's like I should have these things figured out by now... but I still get confused daily.

A week or two ago, I showed her a thread in Electronics Garage Door Opener... Seriously about a garage door opener that fits inside the handlebar. I tough that that might be handy. Anyway, she says that's the stupidest thing she ever saw.

So after a week of riding from home, I mentioned yesterday that I still thought the opener would be handy. After informing me that she had no idea what I was talking about, I showed her the thread again and her comment was, "Yep, still stupid."

Yeah, that sounds about right.

Mrs. GJ has a habit of doing what I call "subvocalizing", where she thinks about asking me to do something without asking me to do it and then gets upset when I don't do what she hadn't asked me to do, because as she remembers it, she had.

Nothing immediate.

Taycan is a great car, a fantastic luxury car but not sporty like the 911/981. Not a “fun“ tossable car to drive but crazy fast. Just haven’t driven it much, only 6k over almost two years. So, good time to take advantage of the used car market.

If Texas had a better charging infrastructure that enabled me to drive it to Austin/Houston type places, I might have used it more.

You will never figure things out. When they think you have, they change the wiring behind the panel.

Also...the handlebar garage door opener is brilliant. Then again, I'm just a dumb guy.

How is the handlebar garage door opener any better than a keypad next to the door. I can have the door open in less than a minute after hitting the driveway.

Until there's a non-Tesla national supercharger network THAT WORKS RELIABLY, EVs are going to be limited to a few major metro areas, or being Teslas. It's amazing to me that a company that makes cars so shoddily built that steering wheels falling off is a known issue can build a network of superchargers that work reliably. But here we are.

The door could be already open by the time you get to it.
