Welcome smoothie, try a different band on your phone I think we use 1800 where you use 900.

Smoothie104 03-02-06 05:08 PM

Ill give it a shot, It worked in Seoul however, so i figured it would work here.

Hey, where is Hitchy??

climbo 03-02-06 05:12 PM

Smoothie, pick a nice day and do the coastal walk along the beaches there, take your budgies and go for a swim at Tamarama. :)

62vette 03-02-06 05:16 PM

Hitchy's about 700km south of you, but is hardly ever seen on BF these days.

You need a quad band GSM phone from NZ or Australia before it will work in the US (I found my NZ tri band phone was useless in PA,) so if yours is less than quad band it may not work in dingoland.

And never mind the pub, just go to the beach and admire the bikinis (or the bits that might be covered by some of a bikini were it being worn.) :D

62vette 03-02-06 05:17 PM

might be best to go with boardies rather than budgie smugglers if doing the aforementioned bikini admiring :p

sounds like the voice of experience there vette!

Thylacine 03-02-06 05:22 PM

Huh? What was 6700?

Australia is a bloody long way from anywhere. Just how we like it! (Until we have to fly to the US which takes 20hrs or the UK which is 26hrs.)

62vette 03-02-06 05:22 PM

I will admit to having spent a bit of time on the beach at Balmoral, Chinamans, Narrabeen, Newport and Manly :D

62vette 03-02-06 05:26 PM

Sounds like the options were two 10 hour+ flights for free via Korea (would have been $6700) or one 13 hour flight from LAX to Sydney.

Personally I'd pay money and spend half the time in the air. It would have been a lot less than $6700 though - OW!.

HDTVKSS 03-02-06 05:35 PM

$6700?? that steep, i spent what $1200 from sydney to LAX return via QANTAS....

Oh yeah, no bike :(

Hey smoothie,

Go for a coastal walk. South if you like the landscape (I live in the bay between the beaches there). Or as suggested go north if you want a nicer view than just the land. Coogee is a bit of a boring beach and you'll be stuck with many many backpackers in the area. Jump in a cab, come to bondi for the Sydney city beach thing.

Other than that, get to the pub and enjoy yourself. Should be a warm weekend, if a litlle overcast. Have a swim, water is good right now. Very differnet compared to the ocean you would be used too in Georgia, I have been swimming in Savanah during july. You'll feel the difference.

I mean as in sketchy in detail as if the event is going to run or not

Thylacine 03-02-06 07:11 PM

If he was prepared to pay 6700 bucks for an air ticket, I've got just the (titanium) bike for him!

That's gotta be the price for first class. Nobody sane would think that 268 bucks an hour for a lounge chair represents good value, especially if it's in those newish Boeing 777's. Those things are frikken sweet! Even my lanky 193cms has leg room in Economy.

it will run for sure, these things always come together, people come from everywhere to attend, they'll put on a good show. You're not entering? :)

Smoothie104 03-02-06 07:35 PM

well it takes me a good 6 hours to get to LAX anyways, so the time difference wasnt that much, plus i would have gone coach if I was paying. With the Points I was in Prestige Class on KAL. Got to take a shower in Incheon as well, that was nice.

Thanks for the tips fella's, ill keep you posted.

Hard to say HDT, without knowing exactly how you're doing them.

Lactate Threshold Revision:
Training results in a decrease in lactate production at any given exercise intensity. Untrained individuals usually reach the LT at about 60% of VO2 max. With training, LT can increase from 60% to above 70% or even higher. The lactate threshold is both responsive to training and influenced by genetics. Stolen from some website on the net somewhere

So you are trying to detect that decrease in lactate production. Not possible for a guy on a bike armed only with an HRM.

What you can measure are things like average speed (or distance covered). If you know your maxHR you can run the tests at a taxing HR (say 85% or 90%) and look for an improvement in average speed or distance covered, or if you have a set course distance look for an improvement in the time taken to complete the course.

Two things to remember tho. You have to get up to your target HR rapidly from rest, so a steepish 50-100m hill is a good place to start. And you have to stay within +/-5 bpm of your target HR, otherwise the results will be flawed. If you have an HRM with download function you can check out the pretty graphs to validate you runs.

We flew ANZ for AU$1250 with the short stop in Auckland for a beer. :D That was about 17 hours all up. It was about the same price for the dog, with the vet and AQIS, it came to around $1500. And that's not return.

Hey, am I the only one that had to scrape ice off their car windows yesterday?

I put on arm warmers this morning.... what a mistake.

Stayed on for about 5 mins.

climbo 03-02-06 08:09 PM

HDTV, 2 bpm over a 1 month period in differing conditions and non-exact testing is nothing, insignificant. :)

Is a fluro orange parka? Can you get the photo standing beside a F series truck with a deer dripping blood strapped to the bonnet?

climbo 03-02-06 08:11 PM

Expat I'm sure has wireless internet access in his tree stand, maybe he could beam us live pics of the hunt ? :)
