As you'd expect, there was plenty of debate here about that when it happened, so I watched the tape of the crash about 20 times on slow-mo. Bettini obviously impeded Cooke's progress, slowed him right up, and veered him toward the barrier, but there was no contact when the crash occurred. What happened was Cooke went to whip his hand off the bar to do old "protest wave", and he lost control of his bike.

agreed 531, I like you watched it over and over. I think the hand was going on to the side or back of Bettini, not to wave for protest at that stage, Baden was looking to win, then looking to avoid the inevitable when the hand came off the bike. I am confident he was going to give Bettini a nudge with the hand instead of alert the commissaires at that stage.

So, no contact. But no contact does not necessarily mean no catalyst. The last mini hook, the only mini hook, previously he just veered out on a vector, from the start to close the door, but that was not enough.

My point is like stage 13 last year when mcewen was ready to put his hands up and sat back down to either let Rodriguez win or put his hands up, and found O'grady catching the slipstream he threw a mini hook, and O'Grady veered a few feet to his right even though there was no contact. Action, reaction, yet no contact. I think it was this, plus Cookes dogmatic will to get that win posted. Both contributed.

O'Grady closed the door similarly on Piil in 2004 in stage 5 in 2004, the only difference was their back wheels had not crossed and the Piil had to change line and accelerate again on the outside. I don't know if it cost him the win but if O'Grady let him come up the inside and sprinted head on Piil might have won on the day. But it was not obvious he was coming around like Cooke was. Check the finish, Ogrady has then moved out and made Piil go the long way after already shutting the door. I think Piil thought twice about protesting.

Bettini's was worse, he never gave Cooke room to beat him. Both contributed to the crash, but Cooke would not have gone down without the mini hook that came last.

Now there's an idea! Maybe the next batch I should do in reverse?

All the prerequisites are in place, though note that the above can be used as a starting point or guide only. :)

fellas, I have 3 free tickets to Wired to Win the IMAX film at Carlton Gardens, Melbourne Museum. Sorry Sydneysiders and others.

I have seen the film, it is not great, but the tickets are for free. Odin, if you want you have first dibs on the double pass.... so you you can have two because you were somehow responsible for winning them, since I emailed the Robbie McClown poic you photoshopped to SEN First of the Bike. But I won as best talkback caller, infact, the only talkback caller!!!

The double pass is for the season, plus the single is the refund ticket I had when I paid to go see it myself when the tickets never arrived. The film hjad technical problems and they stamped the ticket so it can be used for any IMAX session.

So there is 3. First in gets them. But Odin gets to reserve them if he wants them.

Cheers fellas.
btw, I will mail em to you or hand them to you on Commonwealth Games rr if you are going. Either or, not concerned. Just reply in the thread, then I will pm you, as I am sure there will be 1000's who want the tickets. :D

Melanie Hincapie

or

Rahna Demarte aka Ms Gerrans

http://www.theage.com.au/ffximage/20...hands_up,0.jpg

I think Melanie shades Rahna on the Thunder cheekbone scale on bonability. Plus the accent.

ed073 03-21-06 08:48 PM

I was "warned off" Rahna years ago....funny.

+1 for Sarah Jamieson. Quite handy.

anyway, get out of the minors.....I've got pics of 3 or 4 of the hottest chicks you'll ever see, but I can't find any that aren't at least 'R' rated :)

matagi 03-21-06 10:06 PM

you're not cyclists, you're very naughty boys (to paraphrase Monty Python)

I think we got warned about this caper about a year ago, didn't we Nev? I posted some ripper links to bb.com and we got in trouble from Koffee :D :D

Wilchemy 03-21-06 10:14 PM

Hmmm...probably just like the sequence of Anna Kournikova pics that arrived in my Inbox literally a minute ago. Although more like MA than R :D

Of course http://pezcyclingnews.com/ is always a good source of cycling info and other "important" themes

hmmm...sounds familiar

Has everybody got their "receive instant email notification" boxes ticked in the 'edit options' of their user control panel ticked?

Coz I'll post the links shortly, which will then get automatically emailed to all, then I'll delete them. They're not really X rated, just R

That picture is airbrushed a lot though, notice how there isnt much skin texture compared to other pics of her

thunder 03-21-06 10:28 PM

did not know of those preferences... might have it sorted, if not no worries.

jock 03-21-06 10:29 PM
