Hey Exxy, are you anywhere near the salt lake where they do the car racing?
|
The Salt Flats? Nope, but we've had some fries from Maccas.
|
Oh. That's one place in Utah I remember. And SLC, but the salt flats were cooler to me.... unfortunatlely missed seeing a motorbike rocket effort by one day. The cars are probably hotter than any fries from Maccas!
|
There was a joke about a lot of salt in there somewhere...

You went to Sunshine Ladies College?

Will be travelling to Sydney in October to see some relatives, was tempted to bring the bike and do some racing while there... does anyone know what category I would be in as a US 32 y/o Category 3 road racer? Tried to find it on the NSW cycling website but could figure it out... any ideas?

ok Thylo, I'll be impressed if you can answer this guy's questions :p
http://www.cyclingforums.com/t338900.html he wants to design and make his own frame, but knows nothing! |
jock?
Jason. At Club level you'd be in A or B grade. Our grades vary here so if you do a State Open race, you may be graded in C or D as the competition is much stronger. I raced Cat 3 in the US and race A grade at our club races when I'm in shape. |
Climbo forgets to mention that he's a sick bastid that can kill us all on a SS MTB. Or maybe I'm just a fat bastid with poor nutrition and lack of exercise. :D
G'nite you bunch of bogans. |
We had a cat 3 rider from SoCal do a crit in A grade in January. He finished with the bunch after working hard to get a little break only to be caught. Race was won by 500m that day by Phil Thuaux who was riding for the Wismlak Team on the Asian circuit in 2005.
Now for the tricky bit: our club grades are 1/2 or even a full grade lower in standard than some of the Sydney Metro club races. That's due to the higher number of State Open riders who join in to make them a thrashfest. So you might end up being better off in B Grade if you race the bigger Metro clubs. Also you might be able to hire a bike over here instead of paying freight/excess baggage costs to bring your own trusty steed. There was a discussion about it on this thread a while back when koffee brown was looking for some help for a friend who came over for a visit. I'll see if I can find it... |
OK Jason the info for travellers starts with Koffee's post waaay back in part II of the Aussie Thread at http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...end#post915867
climbo posted URL's for some of the local bike clubs, and there might be references to training rides and where to hire bikes. |

Might be a real question, but looks like he has paraphrased a few of the weekly "what bike should I buy?" threads into his own starter. Just PM him and offer to take his cash in exchange for wikkid Tiger stripe special. LOL at your answer to Mr. Engineering via the backdoor" too |

I really want to do my own open heart surgery on uncle Bob, but I haven't been to medical school and I don't have time to do all the study. Can someone please tell me where to make the first incision. I should be able to find my way from there. |
Where has Thunder gone? Seems to have vanished around the same time as the spring classics started.
And not a Giro post in sight? Is McEwan hot or is he the only sprinter in the race? Dumb Question: where are all the other sprinters? |
Boonen is worn out from all the Spring Classics, Petacchi is out with a broken leg, and....err.....Cookie is no longer on the juice?
Buggered if I know. Maybe they're saving themselves for the Tour? Isn't that how it works these days? |
And enquiring minds wish to know .... wo ist der Jan?

Cooke might of ridden had Unibet got an invite and he wont ride a GT all year. Other sprinters are doing the right thing and watching the Giro at home. Good reason too. Just one look at the parcours and you see why. Its intimidating even for the climbers and theres not many stages for sprinters. Even Petacchi had to be talked into riding it and was planning to quit early. A deal had to be struck to exclude a climb in MSR for him show up. Poor bugger, didnt get his MSR win and now badly injury in the Giro. |
