The "who washes their shorts after every ride" thread seems to have generated a lot of traffic. I have to guess there are a lot of teenagers on this forum who have an aversion to hygeine and like the stench of unwashed polyesters

The rep repeated about 5 times. "make sure they are FRESHLY washed, before you send them in!" |

Woo-'kin-Hoo!!
EVCC road race today, 52km of hills and I f***ing won! I'd never ridden the course and was a bit nervous cos the mountain goats had rolled up, so I attacked hard 3km's in which disintegrated D grade. I came up behind C grade, and not really knowing the rules (didn't know if we could pass higher grades) I backed orf. That's when one of the climbers caught up and asked what I had left. (maybe wanted to go on with me? and said we could pass) We attacked again, passing a good number of C graders and managed to drop another 2 D graders that'd latched on during the calm. So it was me and 2 climbers going at a pretty hard pace for the remainder of the race (2x 19km laps). I think I heard them talking a few times about dropping me etc, but I managed to hang on whenever they attacked on the hills... just. 3 km from the finish there's a nasty steep climb... heard them say "count of three" and they were orf. Stayed on their wheel 'till the crest and put the hammer down for the descent. Last Km is flat, I was pushing bloody hard with one of 'em still on my wheel... rounded the corner to see the line (200m away) and sprinted. I saw him start to come around so I upped a gear and dropped him. Definitely my biggest win to date. :D :D :D :D Sheet my legs hurt. ;) |

Well done Odin. I went and got the registry forms for 2006, have to race next Sat. Haven't raced since December, new baby has made the 3 month phase, so it's game on again for me. |
Yeah, great effort Ode. Up you go :D

 Top marks Odin. Get up into C Grade straight away if you can. The cunning old pro's will be lurking in there, just waiting for someone like you to come along :)
BMXer, that's an effin awsome ride!!!! Man I gotta get me some of that action. Every Sunday during winter, or is it just a pre-road season prep ride? |
Thanks guys. I'm knackered but still buzzing :D
... Get up into C Grade straight away if you can. The cunning old pro's will be lurking in there, just waiting for someone like you to come along Last 8 starts: 3 wins, 3 seconds, a third and a fourth... hehe they reckon the three of us that broke away today have no right to be in D  |
They're not joking either. Watch yer back

You've done enough in D Grade (consistently). Go up so you can challenge yourself and improve. As you go through the grades the racing is different. The pace during the race gets less choppy so it's "generally easier" for want of a better description, but it's faster and the attacks are longer and more intense. Ego's are usually more intense too :D

Some very fast times in the NSW Masters State Titles.
Peter Barnard clocked a 50+ skinny in the MMAS3 TT to be within .5 sec of the world rec in that cat Grant Fraser was super smooth on his way to the only sub 70 second ride of the night in the 1000m TT Townsend, Willmott, & Barnard came within a second of the WR for the MMAS3 Team Sprint: and they're all from the same club  x 2 Massive effort (48 skinny) |

One of the other blokes went up a week or so ago and reckoned that C was much smoother to race in. I know their sprint speeds are around 56km/h, but with a faster moving bunch/leadout, I might get close. (53.5 is my quickest to date) Doing my intervals twice a week at the moment. Sprints on Tues and hills on Thurs :) |
Congrats Odin.
Jock, fill us in on the weekends CCCC racing? |
Boonen,
Fittler crossed with Carey crossed with Thorpe crossed with Mottram. No race commentary necessary. |
