But seriously, China has major infrastructure issues and lack of power generation is one of them, and nuclear power done properly is probably a lot better for the environment than their conventional power plants & the associated pollution. (Nuclear waste & accident issues aside of course)

But the "safeguards agreement" re use of the uranium makes me laugh. I know exactly how much stock can be placed on an "agreement" when doing business over there.

BTW Is anyone else having major "cannot find server issues?"

Thylacine 04-03-06 07:37 PM

Are you two related or married or something?

Doh.....nah, just make the same feeble jokes I suppose.

And I guess you are having a few posting issues too - either that or you thought it was such a great line it needed to be posted 6 times!

jock 04-03-06 09:48 PM

Well after 6 hours of trying I finally get on and I'm gonna dip out of TAT because the lack of service is driving me even nuttier than i already am. Have fun guys

Yep. Big time! It's taken 2 hrs to get this far.

Thylacine 04-03-06 10:03 PM

Took me this long to delete the 7 magical duplicate postings I supposedly made

mrkott3r 04-03-06 11:28 PM

haha another duplicate thy
anyone got some poor quality (resolution) clips of keirin racing for my new phone?

classic1 04-04-06 12:50 AM

mrkotter, go check the track forum. Someone posted links to a Kieren site a while back. That forum isn't too busy so it should only be a page or two back. Either that or ask the question there. Someone will respond. There are even one or two kieren professionals who post there occassionally. Tomity is one - he likes Aussies so might be worth PMing.

Any of you blokes had much luck with bike compooters? I've just killed my second cordless Cateye in 12 months.
I'd been getting a strange clicking noise when standing/pedalling hard fer a while now but could never pinpoint it. Seems I was flexing the front rim and the sensor was hitting the magnet, sooo, just finished my sprint intervals and put magnet into sensor 1 too many times. Looking at a Sigma BC 1606L (not f#@% cordless)

On the subject of flex, I'd been getting a few ghost shifts lately, worst was at Satdy's race when I jumped with 1km to go, and the bike jumped 2 gears.
I've kept the cables under the BB nice n lubed, everything's adjusted nicely, can only think that frame flex might be doing it. There's a bit of strange looking paint (cracked) under the LH chainstay where it's welded to the hanger...

Any ideas?

By 'hanger' I assume you mean BB shell yes? In any event, cracked paint usually means cracked metal underneath.
Have it checked cause when they break it can be painful.

Cheers Berny.
Nah, this bit... but on the left:

Think I might start looking fer another frame, this might just convince the missus that I really need one :)

folks,
I got car doored on the way home today. badly bruised shoulder (not broken) swollen knee. Im gonna be fine in a few weeks. Had x-rays shoulder. Had to have it stitched up.

Bike is a total mess. Delivery driver, small company, owner called me tonight. His insurance will cover it all ( I bloody hope so, never had this happen before), cop came and got statement.

Sydney traffic sucks. It was a small citreon berlingo, all the sides had signwriting so I couldn't see his head or anything.

Be careful folks.

Odin 04-04-06 04:22 AM

Sh1te mate, not good.
Hope yer back in action soon.

was_bmxer 04-04-06 04:41 AM

Thanks man, lucky I wasn't on the pinarello. can't replace that one.

berny 04-04-06 05:46 AM

Happened to one of our tri guys last year. Same result, stuffed shoulder and bike. Got a new ride out of it though. Get well quick.

Had a couple of those myself. Not fun.

Thylacine 04-04-06 07:06 PM

Sorry to hear that, was-bmxer. Last time I got car-doored it was an MX5. Thankfully he had his window winded down or I would've got a face full of glass. Instead I ended up going over the door, doing a full twist and slid on my back down Chruch St Richmond watching the oncoming traffic coming towards me!

Never got up so quick in my life!!

Anyway, here's to a quick healing.

The guy who owns the Arete Ti that I showed yas last week go whacked by a courier. That's how he got the cash for his new bike. Reckons the pain and suffering was well worth it!!! :D

Stoopid drivers.

*presses 'Post Quick Repy', hopes something happens*

Wilchemy 04-04-06 07:31 PM

Bummer about your car door "incident" wasbmxer - here's to a fast recovery.

belowzero 04-04-06 08:08 PM

A misfortunate incident however I'm glad you got away with no broken bones. I always signal drivers behind me that I'm moving onto the road when there's parked cars, especially down hills so I avoid a heavy impact. I was fortunate to miss a few swinging doors and had a friend go flying over one once.

I'd like to report another negative for the Sydney cycling community. The pass from Hunters Hill Tarban Creek bridge that splits from Gladesville into LaneCove. Well the pass from the Tarban Creek bridge onto the 1 way loop that goes under the Gladesville brdige. There's a rocky track that heads up to the Gladesville Bridge footpath accommodating cyclists has been blocked off but a new welded metal fence joining the two that used to allow a rocky walkway up onto the Bridge. I used to walk my bike up that walkway, past the bushes and straight up onto the Gladesville Bridge. Now you have to cycling into the right side of the 1 way road past all the fence and do a bit more of a climb to get to the same location.

thanks guys, site has been crappy so I have not bothered posting.

Insurance called, they want a quote from bike shop for repair/replacment cost, asked me for estimate. I told them 9-10k, it was custom made, etc.

I hope I get a payout, bought a new frame a few weeks back, not received it yet. Shoulder hurts.

Looked at the rusty old indoor trainer just before in the garage whilst checking the damage to my orbea, think I'll give it few days yet, maybe re-watch some old dvd's first.

Hey was sorry to hear of your fall mate. Hope it all heals up quick smart. New ride at least! New bling - whoo-hoo! Maybe you can finally upgrade to carbon record :D :D

I'm still waiting for my new steed. Supposedly there aren't any more Record ergo-levers in all of australia..........sounds a bit suss but hey, what do I know?

Brian 04-04-06 08:36 PM

Everything in Australia is in short supply, so your LBS can charge what they please. :(

I don't know about that. It's an extremely high end product in surprising high demand. And my LBS actually charge pretty okay.

I don't think I've met anyone who's had to wait any serious period of time for anything (unless you're after a custom). I'm sure some parts of the US probably have a Record glut but then we've got a population of 20 million vs your 298.4 million. BIG difference.

The supply part was sarcasm. But I've worked at a bike shop in Australia, and I've got a US dealer catalog. Aussies get robbed, no question.
