must have been a really big box after seeing the tandem. Itll be funny when the removalists pick it up, and see how heavy it is.

It fit into a single bike box, which I didn't think would happen. No removalists, just me loading it into a container. On the bright side, it still only weighs about 20kg, with the box.

this is how it's done, a great madison shot from the Bremen 6 day.

For my first ever madison pull I pulled the front wheel clean orf the ground. Funny. Bloody good fun tho, would love to try it on DGV.

The most impressive footage of the tour last year was Ullrich's first timetrial, the rear shot, with his hamstrings and calves as pistons. A shot of Oneil in Adelaide winning his timetrial was reminiscent, but Oneil can't quite match Ullrich's pistons.

Very Impressive.

Had a fun 2/3 of a race today, mixing things up in the primes. Bloody Phil Thuaux came from nowhere to be toddling on the back of a nice 4 man break we had. End of 1st prime before it even started. Oh well

Next week program sees a return to racing full distance with the rotten bugger. Lucky for me I don't mind pain, endorphins, or dopamine. Or extra pain

[edit]It's just the throwing up I object to :D

See above. You missed some great fun after the sendoff ride yesterday. I discovered a new pet hate: strength training. Doesn't hurt like jumps/sprints. Doesn't make you puke like jumps/sprints. It's just bloody uncomfortable, sweaty, and seems to go on for-effing-ever. I reckon you'd have loved it.

Flak 01-15-06 03:31 AM

So how are ya moving stuff expat? Putting it all in a shipping container and throwing it on a boat?

Are you worried about your bike getting hurt?

jock 01-15-06 03:53 AM

What a catch!!!! Hussey on FIRE!

[edit] sorry flak, forgot you can't see nuffin. I've seen some pretty good catches over the years from the likes of Haynes, Greenwich, Rhodes, and quite a few Aussies. But Hussey just took the most unbelievable catch you would ever see.

Ball was going over his head, so he had to turn and run watching the ball come at him over his shoulder, and then take it single handed (left handed) in a desperate dive. Not many catches equal it.

Yep, a 20' GP - 6.1x2.7 metres of household goods. Bike? Don't you mean "Bikes"? I've got 2000 metres of bubble wrap so far. Enough to wrap all my bikes up before they get boxed. I'm going to update my photos of the tandem in my thread about it. It was pretty crazy to take it all apart, and it's going to be a pain to put it back together. I'll probably swap the fork and headset before it goes back together too. But it all fit in one box, which amazes even me. There are 8 bikes in about 10 boxes going into our container. Oh, and stuff like the lounge, computers, camera gear, TV, beds, etc. So much fun to pack.

Flak 01-15-06 04:40 AM

I havent really researched it, but when we make the move back to aus, i wonder if its affordable for a container for all our stuff...or if we're better off just selling it all and starting from scratch. Mind if i ask how much the container costs you and how long it takes to make it to the other end?

Jock, i havent been listening tonight....but i did hear from a mate online that we are getting smashed. :(

jock 01-15-06 05:03 AM

Nope. Closish game, but SA are in control at the end

My sentiments exactly but it still hurts to fail. Basically I'm very quick through the sweeper at E/Crk so I thought I'd use that as a tactic on the bell lap but I missed the wheel of my previously arranged tow to the top of the straight and it was game over. :o Not gunna die wondering. :D

jock 01-15-06 05:05 AM

18 runs needed off 18 balls, 5 wickets in hand for SA

jock 01-15-06 05:18 AM

5 runs off 10 balls... but rain delay, with SA well ahead on D/L calculations.

I think it was about US$3700 with insurance when I came over. They also screw you with some port and customs fees. And if AQIS needs to inspect anything, that's extra. I can give you some tips on packing, and the name of a company to contact for a quote. Full service isn't cheap, but if you pack your own like I did, it's not so bad. Transit time depends on where else the ship stops. From Oz to the US, it's between 21 and 32 days. Probably something similar in the other direction, but you need to consider port time as well. Once it arrives at the port, it may take a week or two for your stuff to be inspected and released.

Unless you've got nothing, it's much cheaper to get a container than try to buy all new stuff over here. If I had to do it over again, I'd pack some Ford and Chevy parts, along with more bike gear. Bring the right items back, and you'll pay for your container, plus make a small profit.

PM me if there's anything you don't want to ask on the forums, or you want the details of the shipping company.

Cheers.

SA won easily in the end.

And I can't find my blinkies for tomorrow morning's ride!! After I spent an hour putting new tyres on. Red walled Hutchies against the blue and black frame on the training bike make it look brand new. :D And most likely gay. :( not that there's anthing wrong with that... I just hate having to change tyres/fix punctures/etc

Flak 01-15-06 06:36 AM

Yeah ill be asking for some tips when the time comes Expat. Cheers.

Booo at the loss too :(

"I've met the king a couple of times, but it's not like I'd invite him around for a barbie, though he'd probably come if I did," he said.

McEwen has a real thirst for victory. He allegedly headbutted fellow Australian Stuart O'Grady in the finishing sprint of stage three of the Tour de France last year. "People like to ask about it," he says. "It was a racing incident and I've put it way, way behind me." Do you ever speak to Stuart? "We don't speak." Topic over.
:D Mcewen makes for GREAT copy. Also, hats off to Anne-Marie, Stuart O'grady;s wife, last tour even after they butted heads, she was cheering for Robbie at the side of the road with Sharnie Mcgee. Good form.

Anyone no anything about these steeds?

He's got a deal to ride them whenever in Aus......has done for a few years. Would be convenient. No lugging bike bags 1/2 way round the world.

They're bloody expensive....were in Ride last year, I think.
