At this stage Im throwing my vote at the next election. I hate the prefential system because your vote either goes to the Libs or Labor.

What if you hate both?

My only problem with solar/wind is at this stage is it cannot produce enough juice for industry (I think its called baseload power? really not sure) So while it will cut emissions for homes, but since industry is the biggest user of electricity emissions probably wont fall that much?
Nuclear is probably a bad option as well because its also a fossil fuel so in 50 - 100 years you're back at square one.

Yep. You might have a wind turbine capable of producing 10mW of power - if the wind is blowing, whereas current power generators can run all day everyday at capacity. This is why wind generators cannot replace coal, nuclear, geothermal, hydro etc. Tree huggers can jump up and down all they want, but they have to accept the reality that wind power can only be used compliment base load supplies, not replace it. They need to spend some $$$ and look at alternatives to replace coal or make it cleaner to burn (says the Latrobe Valley boy):p , specially coz I get farkin coal dust all over my house.

I'm giving the Seppos a hard time in the 'Pics...Lots of Pics!!!' thread. Sometimes it's fun just to stir the pot and watch the zealots surface.

"Why, who are you to question....*blub blub*...who do you think you are....*blub blub*....who are you...oughta....what is.....thats not.....*blub blub*.....

Ah, the IntARwebby. Who woulda guessed it would be this much fun?

Anyway, excuse me for a second, I have to go see how many Baldwins live in Bathurst so I know who to hurt....;)

climbo 04-06-06 01:19 AM

jeez, this one's a killer !
..................

I agree, no need to go further. I just had to repost that last sentence because it was so damn *sniff* I dunno....heart rending! You guys have been the most dutiful and honourable tax evaders, religious nutbags and genocidal manics a parocial antipodean like me has had the honor to look up to!

Carry on, soldier!

classic1 04-06-06 01:43 AM

This is my personal favourite

"You'll also notice I didn't launch into a tirade along the lines of "Why paint fascist puppet insignia all over your bike, babykiller!",

mrkott3r 04-06-06 02:14 AM

damn thy, thats inflammatory. You know Americans are a bunch of religious crazies (sorry expat) that see any country that doesnt agree with their religious ideals should be invaded (sorry expat).
what about this bloke

Meh, I'm just having a bit of fun. I honestly don't get why anyone would paint their bike with navy insignia, or stars and stripes for that matter, when there's so many great paintjobs out there begging to be done.

Can you imagine scooting down beach road on a bike with the aussie flag on it or the motto of the SAS enblazened accross the top tube? Imagine how many people would laugh at you.

Different world over there fellas. There's a great 'Short History of the United States' cartoon in one of Mike Moores films, done by the South park guys which is pretty cutting I reckon. Granted, you could do one for Australia involving a stolen loaf of bread, a Jumbuck, a winged keel and a jar of Kraft vegemite that would be just as funny.

I doubt however that we'd get all indignant when questioned about it. We'd just go "yeah, it's pretty farked isn't it" and go watch the state of origin.

If you ever change your mind you can move to Cronulla. They love wrapping themselves up in the flag there.

There are a few "Special Edition" Hummers that are painted with American flags & eagles - not just a little flag, the whole dame thing looks like it was wrapped in one. And people buy them. And drive them. (Insert shock and horror smiley here)

Well the good thing about living in country towns is ever second family has the same name. Hell even my sisters have the same last name! Whoda thought!

BTW, that was a top ****stir. Bit of a cheapshot though since you'd know half the country would be crawling out of the woodwork over that one. Not subtle enough me thinks. ;)

And when 1 million indonesians come take over Australia over us giving some cannibals a free go at some white meat, I'll blame you when the US say "meh, who cares if the skippies have to stop riding their roo's 5 times a day to bow down to mecca". Lucky for me nobody knows where Bathurst is. :)

was_bmxer 04-06-06 04:59 PM

Thank god everyone is talking about taking the piss again. That political stuff makes me shy away everytime. Can we go back to beer for a bit, can't ride you know.

Anyone else upset that TUBORG is now made under license here in Aust now? It really makes you up the ante when shopping for imported beer now. Have to drive to redfern to a liquor warehouse to hunt down something to impress the jonses.

Wilchemy 04-06-06 05:22 PM

Hey ed073, yo be getting the bling bling ready so you can kick it wid your homies at the Snoop Dogg show tonite? :D

Thylacine 04-06-06 05:34 PM

US State Department - "Oh, the Indos have invaded Australia? What have we got there? Just one satelite tracking station? Meh, it will be cheaper to rent off the Indos anyway. What else? You mean that's it?? No oil?!? F*ck 'em!"

I know Patty, I've seen those SUVs. Could you see that happeneing here? I mean, I've seen Pro Hart paint a HiLux, but....

Imagine a Hummer with little Johnny's face on it, with kangaroos, soldiers saluting the flag. For the rest of your life people you meet on the street would point and laugh at you. Such different realities.

Kinda like W going after Iraq post 9/11? He could have sent more troops to Afghanistan, but hey, there's no oil there!

sites been weird again, or is it just me?

I don't buy much beer to be honest. After kids b-days, christening's, x-mas. I usually have around 40-50 beers in the garage fridge. I drink maybe one a week, so it never runs out.

I fell for tuborg's in Coratia, they were about $1au a bottle.

Thylacine 04-06-06 09:30 PM

No, I gave up getting in. Upgrading to multiple servers or some such, but seems to be working now.

Royale just told me I got 275 unique hits on the website yesterday. Apparently some Frenchies discovered the Arete Ti. How cool is that! Thylacine....big in France. :D

531Aussie 04-06-06 10:09 PM

funny....I occasionally read of donating forum members complaining about all the non-paying members, saying stuff like, "what do they expect? They're all freeloaders!" What happens if all the non-paying members leave? There's no forum!! Is that what they want? :)
