Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I wonder if australia will become the new Scotland and provide the country with false hope only to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at the final hurdle...I already heard the conspiracy theorists discussing Japan & Zico lying down to Brazil...WTF?

I am sad to say the US played like a bunch of 2 year olds. But the Aussies looked good, and it was fun to watch

Sorry Kotter, missed that post. Sort of raced on Saturday. Was sitting in the pack, very comfy then next minute I'm hyperventilating. Game over. This 'unfit' thing sucks. Plus broke a spoke into the bargain.

Was up the Valley on Sunday, Maitland/Dungog/Gresford ride. Had a nice ride Maitland-Dora Creek-Barnsley-Maitland yesterday. Bloody wet & windy weekend.

so how many team mates carrers does one have to end before one is rated? hes good, probably not alonso, schumi, Kimmi good, but hes right in behind that. Flavio has stated on record didnt want him at renault with alonso due to his reputation as a team mate destroyer. given that Rosberg came in this year heralded as the next best thing with huge amounts of testing and a GP2 crown behind him, he still hasnt got anywhere near close.

Ryan Briscoe would have been another good driver to see there, but doesnt seem to hve the cash to even secure a champ car drive at the moment

Now , Mr David "bumfluff"Coultard theres a driver whos stated " its my year " a few too many hundred times with little to show for it!

ok, i'm now out of my depth petrol head but what has he done in F1 apart from whinge and moan?
I'll take the pepsi challenge with DC's record agains MW's anyday!
Oh no, you cant do that, DC had a better car at williams....meh!
Look at Rossi, now there is some talent, riding/developing inferior product and still winning no matter what.

So how many seasons did Coultard get beaten by Hakkinen and Kimmi? 1st and most important person to beat is your team mate! its also not looked on very well when you do the least when you have the most.

Bikes are different to cars, in that the rider has a lot more input ( kinda like push bikes ) a good rider can ride around the bikes weakneses. due to massive increases in technology and aero modern race cars are not like that, either the car is fast or it isnt.... its not often that you see a car outside the big 3 teams race on merit for a podium.

Also on the Rossi front, that bike isnt slow. this year it wasnt the bestso far, but last year i think it was. Jeremy Burgess has more to do with his success than many realise. theres a good reason he took him with him to Yamaha Stoner / Pedrosa are the way of the future in MotoGP. stoner is a good example of what can be done by a top class rider on a bottom of the line bike. hes getting results on that thing that should be embarasing the other teams and riders.
