yeah!! I thought I was a heman when I used to do 125lbs! The old shoulders, elbows and back won't let me do more than 70 now :(

Wilchemy 07-07-06 02:00 AM

I'd be happy with 70lbs these days. I bailed on the gym about 6 years ago & now it would be depressing to go there and have to start again.

bbw 07-07-06 02:09 AM

You're legends. thanks for the offers.
Didn't lose any power tools though, just Sydney's probably most stacked box of plumbers hand tools. Everything top of the line, and being plumbing tools, worth a fortune.
3 tube cutters=$250
Pipe expanders with 5 heads=$600+
Multigrips and spanners=300+
drill bits alone=300+
My beloved estwing, the first hammer I ever bought
14" gilbows, wisses, pipe benders and on and on and on.

Working in the city, I hate having to go back out to the van for that one more tool, so I literally had the most in there I could possibly carry. Thing weighed a ton.
I've put signs up, asked neighbours, checked the cops, nada.
I'll give it til Monday and then I guess it'll be the mother of all shopping sprees. Whose got the best hardware discounts?
Bugger. I'd struggle to change a tap washer at the moment:(

matagi 07-07-06 02:32 AM

Hey BBW, any other tradies around as you were leaving? Odds on, it's in the back of someone else's ute (and not necessarily for safekeeping). I'd rule out your average emaciated druggie, coz if the thing weighed a ton, there's no way they would be able to take off with it.

Anyone with access to Foxtel, might want to check out the Adventure channel - there's a thing on right now about a woman riding a bike from Beijing to London. (called "Breakdown in Siberia)

committed to calga now, gotta get some official duties done at the same time... and then my girls may come up to watch me pull of a "Robbie" in the final sprint.

Only 5 coasties at DGV tonite - p!ss poor effort.

Cass & Graham T won their one lap screamers, Richard P pulled a wheel but was given a restart - in my heat! He won, I struggled to get over 92 (WTF??!?) and crumbed a pitiful 3rd. The Rev led the snowball for a while before getting run down. My snowball sucked. Won the first two sprints, rested then lost the 5 point sprint by a bees dick, then exactly the same thing happened on the 9 point sprint. Got jammed out of 3 other sprints Goddammit!! Heaps of fun tho. Oh yeah, broke a spoke too. Very sucky.

End result: 1-3-~6-DNF for a massive 2 points. cr@p.

Ed has assured us many times that he's a bit over weight, but he might modest. :p

I've also pretty much bailed and weights. I do about 3 workouts a fortnight at home; everything on the same day (no legs), half the weight and sets, and 3 times the reps I used to do. I basically just go through the motions, and end up rushing the workout so I can get on my bike.

that is all.

I'm doing weights on Tuesdays and Thursday nights. The coaching Nazi has me do a 2 1/4 hour session from hell. Start in the pool with a 2K swim which includes 1K of intervals. I then get straight into the gym gear and work all of the main muscle groups. Relatively light weights but PERFECT form with 3 sets x 15 reps. Legs sre quick squats using the 25KG bar, 3 x 20 sets.

After this I do a 40 minute cardio either on the bike or run on the trail beside the club or boxing (focus mitts). After this a warm down, vomit and go home.

bbw 07-07-06 06:10 PM

I'm exhausted just reading that wattsy

Update on self-loathing: phone call last night=hopes up. Young fella from across the road 'yeah I saw the box on the footpath, thought you'd be back for it. It was gone by 5pm' Hopes down. Fair enough, thanks.

I like this one better... THE WOMAN WHOSE HOUSE I'D JUST BEEN WORKING ON- 'yes I saw that there, didn't realise it was yours' Ahem:eek:  :p :o :(

I'd better go for a ride

This kind of thing always intrigues me - if that had been me, I would have immediately assumed it was yours and I would have either dragged the thing back into the house (assuming I could move it) or been on the phone to you so fast, the phone lines would have been scorching.

I mean, really - plumber just worked on house + plumber just drove off + large box of tools sitting on footpath = someone else just pulled up and left their toolbox in front of the house???

Was she blonde by any chance?

bbw 07-07-06 07:47 PM

no but she is an architect!:D

Thylacine 07-07-06 07:55 PM

So stupid and arrogant then?

Bwahahaha!

Geez wattsy....I don't think I'd ever ant to train under your coach!

And I have to say...GO ROBBIE!!!!!! :D

each to their own ofcourse (and i admire the work ethic for sure :))...if it were me id keep the workload but split it up across the day...swim morning then eat eat eat rest rest rest....then gym at lunch then eat eat eat rest rest rest..then get the cardio in at night...then eat eat eat rest rest rest.....stacking ur training like that 'end on end' is hurting you physiologically trust me...but maybe your nazi coach has a grand plan:o

Apparently it is all part of a plan. My weekly regime at the moment is:

Monday: Run 11K's (warm up 1k, 80% HR 8K, warm down 2K)
Tuesday: As above
Wednesday: Lunch time recovery run 40 minutes (HR no higher than 135 BPM), 50K ride (just go for it and have some fun)
Thrusday: As Above
Friday: Run 11K's (per above)
Satruday: 100K ride, usually early (6.00am), preferrably alone, HR between 150 -160.
Sunday: Rest

It seems to be working cause My resting HR is dropping, my riding, swimming, running are all improving, my weights dropped from 103 to 91 and I feel really good. The funny thing is he tells me that August/September are going to be difficult months cause we're going to do lot's of track interval work with running and riding. I told him it couldn't get any tougher surely...He just said..."Don't call me Shirley!" and smiled.

BBW, words can't explain how p*ssed off for you I am. What really gets up my nose is that only another plumber could know what to do with your tools let alone use them properly. So, if they were lifted by another plumber they should be taken out the back and b*ggered angrily, otherwise they're going to sit in someones shed for years, taking up room and not being used.

wattsy_rules 07-08-06 12:13 AM

Oh yeah, GO ROBBIE!

pshaw 07-08-06 12:35 AM

Anyone know anything about PVR's (hard disk recorders?) I'm thinkin bout making a purchase...

62vette 07-08-06 01:04 AM

Go the All Blacks! I'm pleased I'm watching from the comfort of my couch in front of the heater. It'll be barely 0C tonight in Christchurch at the game BRRRR!

The Wallabies will get handbagged :roflmao:

62vette 07-08-06 01:08 AM

Apparantly I'm an arrogant prick. Some seppos have no sense of humour
