Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: 8 bikes - one for each day of the week!

Geez Kotter. Shift into the smallest gear, and pull the cables tight. It's all you need to know. And there's 100 threads in the mechanics forum that say the same thing. If you want to come over and help pack for a few hours, I'll put your bike back together for you. Should take about 25 minutes, if I don't talk while I do it.

Haven't really been. I do miss South Africa though.
Wouldn't mind some time on bondi beach or some extended
dive time on the barrier.

Yup, I finally got a race in, but not before missing the start of the Hunter Districts crit on Fri night. Knocked off work at 2:30 and careened up the hwy, only to run low on petrol 15 minutes from the start line. Pulled in and topped her up only to have to wait in a queue for 12 mins while the numb-nuts behind the counter plodded along at his own merry pace. Game over.

Anyway, had a solid hit out on Sunday. Tried a few things out and had a pretty good chance at a win until I fell for the oldest trick in the book like a C Grade noob. Got suckered into bridging a little gap at the top of the climb on the last lap and they sat up. Momentum took its course and yours truly inherited the honour of leading the pack to the line. Not enough legs left to charge away from them. Oh well, another day another lesson learned. Getting sick of learnin stuff.

To answer the first question, I decided to get married then disappear to NZ for two weeks to go 'Tramping'. Little did I know it didn't involve any Tramps, but instead involved walking 55kms over a mountain.

Oh yeah, and the '06 Thylacine website is sort of up and sort of running.

CRAP!

Yep I fully understand. Got a good tow into the prime sprint last nite only to leave my jump a half bike length too late, then picked the wrong wheel in the finish sprint ... but managed a third.
Way too much to know

Tanx Jock. I been werkin hard lately. The new M7 c/w is proving to be a very good asset. It's exceptionally convenient for me being just 5mins down the road and allows me train more frequently. The northern ride has some challenging (for me) hills and has a nice latte' stop at the turnaround
I rode it Oz day, Satdy with a young 38yo, raced the boat Satdyarvo, rode the Vets 2hr enduro Sundy for a 7th and did Penrith yesterday and I really do feel great today, good enough to even do Marcony 2nite. ..............well maybe not.
Must be doing something right though.

Well on the face of it it has to be one of the wierdest and flattest road courses I've ever seen.

But aside from it looks like it could be a whole lotta fun. It's like a hybrid road/crit course with plenty of technical aspects and two hotdog sections. Plenty of places for people to try to 'run and hide', and two nice long sections for riders to guage how far away the break is.

Definitely a course for the strong men. Nothing in it for the hill freaks. Sprinters will be licking their lips because all they have to do is hold on and get their team mates to close down any little breaks.
