I do enjoy running 9sp or 10sp Shimano on roadies and subbing in 10sp Record cranks and BBs tho.

I think I've had 15 bicycles as an adult and have 3 now. I can remember what I did with most of them but for some reason not the Trek hardtail I had in the early 90s.
I know what happened to the mountain bikes before and after that Trek, but that one is a blank.

Thrifty morning update, with cycling content:
We have an outside water spigot on the North side of the house. The handle broke years ago, and we don't use it much. You can still use a pliers to turn the water on/off, but apparently the handle that this was designed for is OLD OLD OLD (like from the 1970's), and they don't make them anymore. A few years ago mrs datlas asked a plumber to give an estimate for fixing this and he said something ridiculous like $500. I went to Home Depot and got a newer style handle (which does not quite fit) and a longer size screw and was able to "hack" the thing on with a locknut so it works now and only cost about $4 for the parts.
Next, the Toyota apparently needs a new cabin air filter. The dealer said it's $120. I bought the filter for $25 and took the 3 minutes to replace it.
So I somehow saved us about $600 today. I think I should use this as an excuse to buy $600 in bike schwag.
I think this reasoning makes sense, but the MOF may not see it that way.

The wheels with the Record hubs have only been on it for part of the time. Came (used) with some sharp looking Cole wheels and when the freehub broke I bought a set of Ksyrium something wheel which had failures of the spoke nipples pulling through the rims. After three rear rim replacements I switched to Open Pro rims with Record hubs. Rear rims last about 10K miles with these.

Correct. Dawn Wells was also an interesting person. Fun fact: She represented Nevada in the Miss America Pageant in 1954, IIRC, and she and Russell Johnson, who played the professor, remained good friend until he died of prostate cancer. Tina Louise, who played Ginger, is the only living cast member.
I saw Wells at the Philly indoor boat show back in the '90s. She was there hawking and signing a cookbook she had published.

Although it's true this was the worst winter NY had in 10 years or so, I consider this response a bit over the top.
Pretty though. Is that water salt, fresh, or brackish?

Eventually, I built up an Italian steel frame, made of Columbus tubes, with Campagnolo components. It wasn't better than my American bike made of Japanese steel with Shimano components, but it was different.

It works like this - if you ever considered, even only briefly, buying something, and then didn't, you now have that amount available for other things. For example, "We have that $500 we saved by not buying that fancy TV,"
