Ok, the bike has been shown in various forms in other threads, but I've kept tweaking it, changed over some parts, etc. I'm finally ready to submit it to the judgment of the enforcers of the velominati and cycling fashionistas. :twitchy:

This bike was ordered and configured to be ridden by a superclyde (around 282 and slowly trending lower), which influenced certain decisions. I'm extremely happy with the feel and ride of this bike currently.

Lynskey R260 with Lynskey Ti setback seatpost, Ultegra 6870 Di2, plus my own customizations and mods:
1) I swapped the Lynskey saddle out for my Brooks B17.
2) Self-built set of "AeroClyde" wheels. 36/36 spokes, CX-Sprint front, Sapim Force rear, White Industries CLD hubs, Light-Bicycle 46mm x 28mm carbon rims, Shimano Ultegra 8000 rotors, wearing Compass 32mm Stampede Pass gumwall tires.
3) Combo mount putting Garmin Edge 500 and Nightrider Lumina 950 light onto a single stem mounting.
4) 3T Ergonova Pro alloy handlebar (46cm) wrapped in red Fizik tape.
5) Single-piece 35mm Ti spacer from Ti-Cycles.
6) 110mm VCRC Pro stem.

Saddle/bar drop is around 65mm currently, which for my current shape is about as low as practical.

ok in that case I'm not a fan of the sloping top tube making it look like you jacked the seat post up just for pictures. :thumb:

Remove all accessories, shift into big ring, small cog combo, retake photo.. including a side angle shot.

Ok, thanks for the feedback. I'll remove the tool bag, rear and front lights, and Garmin and reshoot. I tried to stage it correctly re: valve stem and pedal orientation, but missed the chain not being in high gear.

Which Garmin/light mount is that?

It's this one. It's actually too short in its intended orientation to get the proper downward angle for the light for night riding, so I had to flip it over and swap the garmin and gopro mounts. There's a slightly longer version of the same mount, and plenty of other models as well that I saw on eBay. The light was only too long by like a couple of mm, so the slightly longer variant would be perfect. It's not a bad option for cheap, but that F3 mount someone linked in another thread several weeks ago would look much better.

Good to know that the model you have is too short for the light you pictured. I would be using it for a Garmin 510 and a Niterider 650, so this would likely be too short for my needs.

The F3 looks like it would work better.

Yeah I didn't know about the F3 before I bought my eBay special. If I had it to do over I'd probably go with the F3. I still could, but the solution I have works, so I'd rather put the money towards something else. I'm saving up for Quarq Dfour, so I'll keep the eBay special for now.

Given the plethora of eBay options that would work for around the same money, including the longer version of the one I have, it may not be worth it, but mine was only like a couple mm too short for the Lumina 950. If your 650 has a shorter body it might actually be fine. I could get some angle with mine, but just not enough, given my stem has some positive angle to it. One very nice thing about mine is that it's about as compact as it can be, keeping the Garmin from sticking way out in front. The F3 is extendable, so it could be adjusted to be as short as possible while fitting the light and the Garmin; it just costs three times as much.

Regardless of the specific model used, having ridden with the Garmin and Niterider mounted separately to the handlebar, and now with them on this combo mount, the combo mount is extremely nice. Having the cockpit completely decluttered is very satisfying.

I don't usually ride my road bike at night because the Zipp SL70 aero handlebars force me to mount the lights on the drops, but a mount like this would solve that problem. My commuter bike uses round bullhorns, so there's no issue getting both lights(Niterider 650 + 400) mounted right next to the stem.

Giant TCR Disc

Just finished the build of my Giant TCR Disc. Most of my riding is hilly (N. California), so I wanted something light with disc brakes. This comes in at exactly 15 lbs according to my wildly inaccurate fishing scale. It rides amazing, but not sure I'm totally sold on the look of disc brakes.

Nice, IMO could use some white or red bar tape.

robbyville 12-27-17 09:08 PM

I think the Giant is hot in a black/gray bike way. I think disc brakes look awesome personally, nicely done.

SethAZ, once you RESTAGE the pic I think that bike will be really nice. While not sure about the hot part on aesthetics (we'll see), I have to complement you on the build. Well thought out, and great specs (other than that seat but I respect how well they work for some ;)). Your wheel choices are fantastic, ride safely and have fun!

I think it is a great build. Nice and simple. :thumb: Only thing is the saddle position kind of bothers me. :foo:

Thanks, and good catch on the saddle position. Somehow slipped back to the far rear position during my maiden voyage. Always one thing I miss during the last pass with the ol' torque wrench.

Took a nice chunk out of the front of the carbon rail. Damn.

Not a fan of GIQOT bikes, but yours looks good. The white saddle is out of place though. Either needs white cages, or tape, or hoods, or something. Or else it needs to be a black saddle.

Good looking bike, but definitely not a fan of the disc brakes.

Think white cages and white tape would be a great improvement. Don't know how I feel about white hoods. Makes me think of white shoes.

nycphotography 12-28-17 12:34 PM

White tape gets filthy and stays that way. White hoods clean up, and w/ black tape can work better than expected.

I had a black on black sworks w/ white saddle, white hoods, white bars, white stem, and black tape. Looked really good.

Now I have white tape and black hoods on a custom painted sworks... and the tape is always filthy, but I don't mind because it shows lots of miles ridden.

Deda white tape cleans easily, and is very durable.

True. I should have said any white tape that isn't hard plastic. If hard plastic tape is your thing, then you're all set w/ white.

Deda Elementi tape is not hard plastic tape, but you are right that it's not as cushy as Lizard Skins. I guess if you need ridiculously thick/soft tape, you might be out of luck.

I've had very good luck with this one...cleans easily, good grip when wet(sweat/rain),durable, looks good, white:

Nice. I'm definitely not sold on disc brakes, either, but it's a handsome enough bike I can forgive it. And though I appreciate the critique of the white saddle, I think it looks fine. So it's not supermodel hot, but it's a fine girl-next-door.

Lol, thanks, good way to put it. Definitely not an exotic, but I still find myself admiring her lines.

Orange is such a good bike color. Keep the gum walls. Orange (and yellow) bikes always look good with them. I highly recommend white saddle and tape though.
