While almost all my tires have been black sidewalks, I actually think the gum walls look fantastic and contrast beautifully on your bike. I’d keep em. Of course, with a bike like that you’re hopefully stoked and riding a ton going through a couple sets of tires a season so you can try both types out!

Wspsux 12-18-17 11:11 AM

Keep the gumwalls, keeps the bike from looking like halloween.

Yes to the gumwalls on that orange CAAD. Sweet bike, HOT!

Lol you had to know that you would get a mixed bag of nuts by asking if you should keep gum walls or not in this thread! I think it would look just fine with black. I like gum walls though, so I like how it looks now.

PS, please dont ever go with a colored tread as suggested above...Like, Ever.

I was waiting for your opinion :P I dont care for colored tread, to each his own though.. Ive had gumwalls forever. They look better on this frame then the EVO though. I dont think I could go wrong either way on this frameset, but if I run the wheels on the EVO then black may be the way to go... I may have some Eves in the works though :) havent decided.....

Cut the tube and it's hot. Is it a gray or matt finished black? Need to pose it again with pedals though after the fork tube is cut..

It's a good looking bike, but people need to stop using this as a "My new bike" thread. Re-post it when it's set up for you, and complete. Fresh out of the box, most bikes aren't hot.

Good call, I was thinking of the recent purchase thread but didn't want to double post there.

Will post final version soon.

ColtJ you gonna keep the Propel and the Orbea? Or sell the Propsel? They serve a similar purpose.

nice bike btw.

Thanks, I've been off the forum for a while.

While I still own a Propel (sitting as a frame right now), I've had a Felt AR and a Fuji SL since the first Propel.

So in a way, yes, moved from the Propel to the Orca Aero.

TMonk 12-20-17 03:33 PM

Do you still own the TCR? That's also a very nice and very different bike.

Actually no, I should update my signature.

I'll get some completed and better pics soon.

I replaced it with an Orca some time back.

Of all the places in the world to pose your bike, you went for the nutz scenery? OK then...

https://scontent-dft4-2.cdninstagram...35483648_n.jpg[/Q I like the looks of this. I ride a 2012 orange and black Orca, team colors. This latest version looks perhaps more supple in the ride with the long seat post and slimmer tube shapes. UOTE]

Since I'm not a fan of Orbea, I can't give it much love. But what I think would make this bike look better would be a "0" degree offset seatpost. That saddle looks like it's at the limit pushed forward.
Cheers

The bike isn't super hot, but it is by no means modest, and the setting isn't anything spectacular, but it is far from boring. The balance of everything is very nice: it reminds me of the happiness of just riding around.

I'm really not a fan of the seat post jacked way up just for the picture.

That's how my bike is 100% of the time, riding and picture taking.

Virtual top tube. It's an optical conclusion. :foo:
