My first thought when I saw the pic was, "man, look at those gleaming braking surfaces - and people think that gumwalls look bad!"

LOL my wife hates the carpet. Same stuff was there when we moved in. We had an insurance claim for water damage and they put they same stuff back. I don't want to spend bike money replacing an essentially new carpet.

This is what I thought when seeing it too. Other problem is that these rims are 20mm wide were as the Comete's are 25mm wide so I would have to adjust the brakes every wheel swap because the levers bottom out on the Campy's. And Cayon set it up with the rims only a nat's hair off the rims so there is no inbetween.

See I like the contrast of the shiny brake surfaces, goes with the Frt Derailleur. Nice looking bike, I'd give it a hot even though all black isn't my thing anymore (I still ride a primarily black/grey bike). Good luck once you decide on the steerer tube, gotta go one way or another lest you imprint on yourself ;)

You say that like it's a bad thing. :)

Last year this was a 10 speed with Zipp 303 FC wheels, white saddle and white bar tape. I tried to sell it as a full build. No takers. Someone bought the wheels, so I tried selling the frame. No takers. After many months I decided to rebuild it as an 11 speed with a different look.

HOT! I really like the combination of white frame with gumwalls... Looks like it's a blast to ride.

Absolutely not. Those tires are hideous, but not as hideous as that sternum relocator sticking up......

It's back for another round, eh?

People here loved slammed stems, but the saddle to bar drop looks uncomfortable to me. Do you ride with it that way or did you leave the steerer long because you just lower the bars for hot r not pics?

Im just trolling you a bit, all in good fun... :)

Thank you! it is a blast to ride. I think it's pretty smart looking for a "budget" build (~2k as pictured w/out the carbon rollers)

LOL "steerer" - that's actually tenspeed's childseat; I give him a ride to mumz house here and there on the handlebarz.

ps: I ride with the stem slammed but I jacked up the post for the photo.

Although, given that it's shaped like a mountain bike, a virtual/horizontal top tube would leave one with a much more reasonable looking saddle-to-bar drop.

In case it's not obvious, my take is NOT.

So this is my newest Caad. I am ordering new tubs. Question is. Do I keep the gumwalls or go black walls this round...

I think either would look fine, but for some reason, I think that bike should have Gatorskins. Maybe because orange makes me think Florida, which makes me think 'gators....?

Black all the way, preferably Vittoria. Nice build :thumb:

Thanks, Yeah I am leaning to black, although most likely Veloflex Arenbergs.. :)

SethAZ 12-17-17 11:52 PM

I actually like the tan sidewalls. It shows off the deep-section carbon rims. With normal black walls the tires and rims can just blend in in a photo into one solid mass. Some might think that looks neat, but I don't.

cat0020 12-18-17 06:06 AM

Some colored tread would look nice to contrast the orange frame

There is only one possible choice there: ditch the gumwalls...

Otherwise, I'm diggin the orange.

+1. Very streamlined/clean (and I don't mean sans dirt).
