I dont have a photo to present here. I know what hot is, clearly many of you dont!

The rules also state "Hot or Not" not your entire visual character analysis. Clearly you only read what you wanted to. Also, you are saying no bike can be hot unless it has a garage door behind it? Lol? You definitely understand what HOT means when it comes to bikes. Bahaha. Go ride your frame.... The game is simple and allow for Opinion. The player is an f'n tool and doesn't understand the game. I'l hate on what I want.

Obviously you're not the only one-- I posted in response to other guys who panned the stem.

My point was that CF bikes themselves are kind of bulbous and bulky. Cylindrical stems are more fitting of the design aesthetic of 1990's AL bikes with their big tubes etc.

The Look stem, with its white/naked CF look and squared, flattened proportions and shape-- well, that suits a modern CF frame.

We tend to like what we are used to seeing-- normal stems. But this one is an aesthetic sucess because of how it integrates with the design of the frame.

I can certainly imagine it being butt ugly on the wrong frame.

A simple "hot" would have been sufficient.

I think that S2 is hot, but I'd go black hoods and cages.

echotraveler 01-12-12 11:45 AM

Raleigh NOT! Garage door, photo is too dark, red tape saddle seatpost red cable bottlecages tyre combo kill the bike.

Here is my UCMIBZ style review:

Not hot!!! look at the ridiculous position of the rear skewer, the red lettering on the front tire is a different red than the frame, the wheels are a model year older than the frame, it needs a nice garage door, the crank arm is .0003 degrees to low, the shadowing on the floor is horrible, and the cabling on the handle bars is .004mm to high

I like his rating system. I also like rating in degrees Fahrenheit. That S2 I would say is about 115deg, which may of been one of the highest temps I've ever given. The deductions are the same you mentioned about the hoods, and the cages, plus wheels are just a bit too deep(Enve Smart System, or Zipp 606 would be perfect), and I would repaint, or replace the fork. The pinstripe from the frame going into the fork always annoys me for some reason on the newer S2-3s. Otherwise well done it's easy though when you start with an S series isn't it? It's hard to mess them up. Thank you for not putting Shimano on it, btw.

That's right. You don't even have to have a bike that works apparently. As long as it sits in front of the garage door properly. Too bad Lance, George Hinacpie's and Levi Leipheimer's bikes would be total fails in this thread. Their garage doors are Beige and yellow.

I'm curious to see what his backup bike looks like. Unless she doesn't have one. He's talking about White garage doors and doesn't even have wheels on his bike. This thread makes me shake my head.
We all know at this point, Cervelo's Speciazlized and Cannondales are the only accepted bikes in here. These peoples lives must be fantastic to witness at home. "You're brand new Lexus isn't as cool as mine that doesn't run because I have bigger wheels a a garage to put it in. Don't you know every vehicle SUX unless it has 22's and a Garage." All I know is, while I'm on my 3k mile for the year, he'll still be worried about color matching seatposts.

I know some people only like bikes you would never ride (It's a picture forum) but I ride ALL my bikes, considering this thing started as a 500 dollar flat bar road bike, it has come a long way. 2 people stopped me during yesterdays ride asking where I got the bike and how far I have ever ridden on it. Then a roadie at a red light stopped next to me and was asking about the gearing setup and the full range for climbing. No complaints out of me yet.

Wow, are you really that bothered that people don't like your bike?

Andy_K 01-12-12 01:25 PM

This is an odd thread. I'm a recent visitor to the road cycling forum (otherwise, near as I can tell, I'd be required to call it "the 41"), and my first impression of this thread was that it was a fun, bawdy place where people were intentionally superficial and both hyperbole and tongue-in-cheek comedy were encouraged. Then a bunch of people started getting offended.

Personally, if I wanted everyone to "play nice" I'd post my bike in the "What road bike are you riding?" thread and maybe ask for feedback if I wanted suggestions on the asthetics. Posting it here, I'd completely expect people to complain about poor lighting, noisy backdrop, god-awful stem angle, MTB pedals , bad crank angles, etc.

As it happens, I just bought my first true road bike and I haven't finished putting it together yet (though it does have wheels :D), so you'll have to be satisfied with one of my cyclocross bikes set up for road riding.

The tires need celeste sidewalls. Once that's done, HOT! Now, it's kinda pretty.

Bianchi is hot.

Lol. I don't care if people don't like my bike. If you read this at all it says it's not even my first or second nicest bike. Also as said before. That post was to simply keep the thread rolling. As it did. at least for a page or two. I do however feel that this page should just be called post your Cervelo at this point. Simply Hot or Not. is all that is needed, not the I think you should have your bike setup exactly like every other plain off the shelf Cervelo with slammed stem, seatpost to the limit, and Some deep carbons they only use 4 times a year.
I am starting a new thread called... "Wheels and Photography Skills oh yeah.. only the cheapest of white garage doors counts" which is pretty much what this has become. Comments like "Triples are ALWAYS a not" just goes to show you how laughable some people are when it comes to thinking outside the box.. or at all really.

Peloton.. S2 is HOT despite my above comments.. (Way to follow the Sheppard's advice)
Andy_K .. Never seen a Surly setup so Road like. (I'm always a loyal Surly touring bike fan) Hot?

NOT- still very beautiful classy bike! Its better than my frame without wheels ;)

pelotonracer 01-12-12 02:46 PM

I thought about getting the black/white elite custom cages and keeping the black hoods, but then my S2 would truly be a generic S2 with deep carbon wheels.

That being said, I tried to customize it by playing off the red accenting on the frame as much as possible. Although not visible in the picture, the tubular tires also have a centre red stripe. I'm also thinking about getting these red CNC Planet X brakes

http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/imgs...CNC-RED_P1.jpg

to replace the stock FSA Gossamer brakes and save 100+ grams in the process.

Quill needs to match and the wheels need an upgrade...definitely lose the mounted floor pump.

Wheels are a bit too deep for me. I do have some 45mm carbon wheels, but saving that pic when all my parts are installed.
This is just my base (before pic) which for me is a "not" still
