what chainrings and crank length are you using? the cranks look really long around only 3inches from the ground and the big chainring looks like it has a higher tooth count than a 53.

Very cool. Hot bikes built on a budget get extra credit in my gradebook.

SA, that bike screams, CUSTOM PAINTED FRAME!!:)

You know I am with you on this. However $1000 to paint it, and retain warranty is ludicrous. I did a little photo chop of the changes I would make. I wish I could just do it myself.

I had my fork replaced on my bike because it had a paint chip in it from the start, and got my chain guard rubber piece replaced...the clear came off..luckily my lbs was doing the work so its all warrantied and would be anyways since i have a 2 year cosmetics and lifetime warranty on it. I love my frame paint even though its just the silver model. I'm hoping they are out of stock and have to upgrade me to the orca gold which means I'll be driving on a frame that is less desirable paint wise but I'll drop 150 grams and its supposed to be a tad stiffer.

Damn 150g for a different color? All the paint on my Trek was only 140g. Or is it lighter, and stiffer due to a different carbon layup?

That's how it should be. You have them setup correctly.

While Solo's Cervelo is HOTT, I still think that this one is hotter -

At the very least, it's a better view as you are being dropped.

I don't have any complaints. The ride is a little on the harsh side, and it's not that light. But, it's certainly not flexy and you can't beat the price. I think it'll make a good crit bike.

Nice. I've had my integrated headset version for about a year. I like yours, it looks like you have single pivot brakes though, it might not hurt to upgrade them.

Here is mine, the geometry on these frames works well for stem slamming. I recently posted this but I traded out my crappy stem for a better one... It is a good frame, I honestly don't feel like I'm at a disadvantage compared to your typical $2-3k trek or specialized and I have about $800 into this

Your E5 is far nicer than that. I do like the new frames, but 1k for a bike with sora? No thanks.

ravenmore 04-30-12 01:21 PM

Thanks - the bike I was looking at was the E5 Allez with Tiagra and full carbon fork. Of course the first thing I would do would be to strip off everything I didn't want, sell it, and then start building with components I like. :)

Yeah, the brakes are old 105's from the 80's, they perform alright though. I was worried about getting the size right with the tall head/seattubes, but it worked out just fine.

What's up with your rear shifter cable?
Other than that, the pics of these frames have me intrigued. I think I'll build one up to beat next winter. Nice!

Mine's just an 09 compact, but I paid $360 w/lifetime tuneups... really can't complain.

It's the cable for the wired cadence sensor
