I myself built quite a few HIGH END bikes this past year, but would be redundant to keep them all, if I had I would've been kicked out of the house and divorced.

Ain't nuthin wrong with swappin wheel sets.

LoL poor guys.

I didn't say there wasn't anything wrong with it, I do it all the time.

All you need is the Garmin head unit and the bintrager duo trap pickup in the ear chain stay, that will do your speed, distance and cadence, dump the bontrager head unit and sensor on the front of the Bike.

Sorry for the cell pic but it's all I have right now. Never posted this bike with the white wall tires.

I guess it's a WW thing, but that post clashes horribly with the rest of the bike. I suppose a gold stem might balance things out, although I'm not sure it's in good taste. ;)

I like it. I say hot! Would prefer black tires, but it's not a dealbreaker. Hey I've read your thread on those shifters, but it was a while back. How have they held up for you? Are they stil performing well?

PatrickGSR94 10-05-12 11:44 AM

Wow, the white almost looks like there's some kind of chrome cover running all the way around the tires. Looks pretty awesome! I mean I really had to look to see where the bike stand ended and the tires began, and I thought there were some kind of chrome fenders in the mix or something.

As for the gold post, a gold headset would look pretty awesome to go along with it.

Yeah. The chain was supposed to be gold, but it's hardly noticeable. The post grew on my over time haha.

Thanks! Shifters have held up well. New bike has a full MicroShift gruppo, so expect a review of their newer stuff soon.

Either that's a tiny frame, or those are giant shifters. Probably both.

I haven't seen a spooky in a while, always loved their industrial look. Well, that, and the Tie to FTWelder who posts here.

Looks like a really small frame. Look at the seat post angle, although it is somewhat elevated due to the stand.

Still HOT!

It is a nice bike but not hot to me. in fact it looks a bit odd. I had to stare at it for a while to figure out why and finally figured it out. I looked back at several pages of bikes to compare and when I come back to look at this one I realize that the position of the saddle in relation to the rear wheel looks off. The rear wheel looks like it is too far back on the frame, like it is a stretched frame or something. I think you were trying to go with the gold chain and seat post for some nice color added to the frame. Since your FD clamp, pedals and brakes are red, I think a red seatpost would have been a better match, but black would still be my personal color choice. Not a fan of the white sidewall tires either.

Like I said, Nice bike and good components/accessories but it looks like you build this frame with whatever you had lying around from several different bikes. How much does she weigh? she looks light.

Soloist Assassin 10-05-12 03:15 PM

I agree with bianchi10. Shimano is never hot, especially squid cranks. Putting Campy or Sram on would do wonders.

I am not too sure about the white stem myself; might go back to black.

runningDoc 10-05-12 04:36 PM

^the white balance of the camera/photo seems a little off. you can see in the background that the white balance was set for natural light, but the subject/bike is actually in the shade. you can adjust the white balance manually using your photo application (usually under temperature settings).

wow is that the original fork of the soma? is it a carbon fork with fender braze ons? I love racier road bikes with fender braze ons.

I like the white stem, maybe repaint the fork white?

bianchi10 10-05-12 06:01 PM

I think you have some options here to make it better.

1)black seatpost AND stem to go with your black fork.
2)keep the white seatpost AND stem but paint your fork
3)get a white headset and run it all white with black fork. (That black headset really divides the white in the cockpit area for me)
4)get a black seatpost clamp to match the black headset. having this will even out the divide. as of now it just feels un-even (To me anyway)

Not. Seat post color looks off and so do the bars compared to the size of bike, red peddles are a miss, ugly crank and I dislike the finish on those wheels.

whaaaat that's one the best looking cranks on the market!

Jseis 10-05-12 09:12 PM

A sort of retro steam punk look. I like.

Rob13 10-05-12 10:50 PM

Alot of bikes on here being posted latley are mediocre at best.

I generally like this bike but at first sight the tires made it look like it had fenders on it.
