It certainly doesn't compare to many of the bikes on this thread, but I enjoy riding it. Yes, I know I forgot to put the chain on the big ring.

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=301155 Let me lay this out here for people who are posting in this thread for the first time or still dont understand some general rules of what "hot" usually includes for this particular thread. If your bike looks like it came off the showroom floor, its most likely a strong NOT. When they put the bikes together, they usually: -Put the stem on top of all the spacers -They flip the stem UP -Seatpost height near to level with the bars -Bars rotated up above level To accommodate the various bodies shapes and sizes that may test ride that bike. This does not mean your bike is not nice or good, so dont take offense. BUT this also means if you are posting your bike and hoping to get some "Hot's" just because you got a new bike, water bottle cage or bar tape, think if it fits the "requirements". Remember that there is a "show me your bike" thread also, which will be more forgiving and not so hard up on said "requirements". |
Bianchi, I am a little disapointed you left me out of your daily criticism. I know how much you like vintage bikes ;)

+OK so here goes, this is my # two bike, I purchased it in 1976 and have ridden it extensively until 2004, when a new Merlin made this my back up. Repainted in 2004 by CycleArt in Cali., Campy Centaur group added and carbon fork added at that time. Have at it folks.

Wow...bike is almost as old as I am! Props for having it for that long!
|
It is considerably older than me, and better looking too. The story makes up for the tiny stem and open brake quick release. Hot.
|
I like the custom paint surgeonstone. Hot.

Right lever quick release is open. 1) I agree, need to adjust. 2) I agree again but my weird anatomy on this fairly long top tubed bike demands a short stem, unfortunate but true, this fits me just right now. 3) I do not think so, all levers in closed position. |
Some how, the crit was mixing two bikes - yours and the 1976 repainted lugged bike. I noticed that the stem seemed stubby and the saddle far forward but thought that you are long legged and short torso-ed or the bike has a long top tube, which is does. I do like it however!

also, saddle and bar tape should match. go with a white saddle with that tape, or get black tape for that saddle. personally, i would go white and white.

Some people (me included) *actually* ride their bike commuting several times a week and centuries, so no, I'm not going to set it up like Fabian's TT bike :D  |

I'm pretty into this. Nice modern build on an old frame. Super bonus points for original fork and stem/bars combo.

Dont own the thread, but the votes for bikes that are hot are generally consistent. Some people post up their brand new bike after getting it home from the bike shop and expect a slew of "Hots". Some post their bikes that they think is hot because they confuse the idea of "quality" over appearance. Just because someone has a $10k bike doesn't mean it is automatically hot. Its all about the set up in this thread. If we could all have the set up that Soloist assassin had, we would have a crap ton more hot bikes in this thread. People get all bent out of shape because they feel that viewers expect them to make changes to their bike's set up just for the photo and then put it back to their current riding set up. Nobody is asking anyone to do that. Some people are just able to ride in a more aggressive position than others. I wish I could slam the crap out of my bars, but realistically it isn't comfortable. Its all about vanity in this thread and I was just laying it out for people who easily get bent out of shape when they receive all "not's".
Tell it like it is & send 'em pack'n to the 182! ;) |
Those three buildings in the background are pretty awesome, too. |
soulbike,
HOT! About time we had another solid hit on this thread. Care to share some more details on the frame and wheels? |
