The bike is a 61 so you don't really get a choice on the head tube buddy ...... Thanks for your comment ;-)

Hot bike! How are you liking the srm with red and did you have any adapter issues running the srm crank with specialized?

This thread is all about staging. staging the bike and taking a photo that makes the bike look best. When you (anyone) take a picture of a bike from a low angle looking up, it always looks weird to me. Yes, the bars look funky to me because of the angle this photo was taken. I cant tell from the picture, is that a -17 degree stem? If it is, I wont like it. I cant stand the look of a -17 degree stem. ESPECIALLY on frame that has such a sloped top tube. The bike is a 61 and have no choice in the head tube, I get that, but doesn't mean that I give it a pass just because of it being circumstantial. Like I said, I'd like to see this bike with a better photo.

I'm not a fan of the frame shaping, but that bike looks great. Hot.

This isn't the "what road bike do you have" thread, its the hot or not thread, its all about aesthetics, not if it fits you or your riding style.

I dig the color, but I have to agree with b10...the crankset isn't aesthetically pleasing - you can run SRM with other cranksets. A sloping top tube and -17* stem looks funny. Gatorskins on a race bike seem weird to me. The tire logo doesn't seem to match up with the valve stem on the front tire. The bike isn't properly staged.

Now does that take anything away from your ability to ride it, race it, and probably kick butt in the process...not at all. Would it be staged like this on Specialized's website...probably not. Is it still a nice bike, yeppers.

Dude, I know you need to think you're the Mayor, but give it rest. Better yet, why don't you go start your own "Most Awesome Bicycle Pics" thread where you can be a weenie all you want about 'staging' and other silliness. This thread was started before you were even a member, and it's utterly ridiculous for you to be prancing around telling people what it's "all about," especially when you're wrong about it.

bianchi10 10-26-13 09:12 AM

Lol ok. So because the thread was created before I joined, I can't take part? Good to know. I give MY opinion. If you think I'm wrong, then that's your opinion. There are plenty that agree with me. Its no big deal man. I'm opinionated in this thread, but that's all this thread is about. Simmer down

From a "hot" perspective, it is never the -17 stem that is wrong. A -17 degree stem is the best looking stem for a road bike. If a -17 stem isn't parallel with your top tube it is the frame that's wrong.

cool it. as far as I can tell, bianchi10 is doing exactly what you're supposed to do in this thread: give your opinion on photos of other peoples bikes.

simma down now. just sayin'

1) im not a photographer. photo suggestions welcome.
2) component (aesthetic) suggestions welcome, although the build isn't likely to change
3) yes, those are monodisperse silica nanoparticles that I made at work on the poster. in case you were dying to know.

Ive never been fond of the setback thomson seat post. I usually prefer bar tape and saddle to match. BUT, I dig it.

Yeah, he should call it The Hyena! They're ugly, but bad-assed!

gsa103 10-26-13 01:56 PM

I think its a nice color choice. Unique and really stands out.

There are two things that bug me about the bike.

1) SRM Power Meter is just plain ugly. If you could get a black version it would help, but it may be just too bulky and beyond help.

2) Cables. Sloping top tubes just don't look right with external cables. There's this weird gap that looks unfinished.

No, it's not ALL ABOUT staging. You obviously don't mean that, because if it was then an unattractive bike would automatically qualify as Hot just because it was staged perfectly. And we wouldn't want that.

What you mean is that by popular convention we have come to understand that staging can sometimes be an important factor. On many occasions it deservedly is, but in many other cases I've seen it used to discredit an otherwise Hot bike. We don't want this either, I'm sure.

Originally, way before the birth of this thread, the white garage door thing and pedal placement thing was just a joke, just another way to have some fun around here. This thread takes it too seriously. Everybody needs to simmer down and lighten up with the staging crap, and have some fun like it was originally intended.

Damn it - I hate it when I wholeheartedly agree with the sheriff.

Where did you find a wife who appreciates the beauty of bikes. ;)

My wife isn't much of a rider but luckily she doesn't care what I spend on bikes and how many I have at any one time. My collections constantly rotating...as long as they don't infringe upon the living spaces I'm good to go.

Jim, all those bikes are HOT. Of course, the Merlin Cyrene (gush), Vitus, Paramount mixte, Basso (hot enough to overcome the splatter tape), Paramount track bike, and Litespeed Classic are all exceedingly hot. I don't remember seeing the Paramount track bike before. Very nice. :thumb:

Thx. The track didn't make the rounds very often and eventually found a very happy owner in the D.C. area.
