BTW, cycling.tv has a behind the scenes look at the cyclingnews.com team, plenty of Aussie content/riders about racing Div 3 in Belgium.

How come I only get the green bars, no picture?

Ed mad.

slow server? sh1tty computer? might be very slow for you, it takes time but I'm no expert, mine just works.

ed073 03-09-05 06:48 PM

i get sound, green bars but no pic. Might be the settings work have put on my PC...it did the self test and the connection speed is 400kpbs or whatever.

Weird.

climbo 03-09-05 06:57 PM

yeah, it also works better with Firefox if you have that. You do get the buttons to pause and play etc.

Racing pants, full finger gloves, full face helmet, long sleeve jersey. Pad set and number plate on bike, and a better set of tires. My shoes do look like old skool Vans. Actually, I may order some Old Skools from the states. Dark blue with the white stripe.

I'm seriously pessimistic about cycling being anything but a casual pastime in NSW. I mean most NSW'men/women are too busy earning $$$$ to be too bothered with superficial nonsense such as cycling, or sailing, or any such participatory activities. I mean where will they get the money for the three story place on the beach and two cars and a property portfolio, and some decent shares............... if they don't work 24/7.

Really we are pathetic. Anything other than Big Brother or Aust. Idol is simply out of the question for many. I mean you'd have to leave the house to go see a bike race never mind enter one.
This year's BNSW BigRide attracted about 1500 riders and many of them were from out of state. The Victorians had 8000 at theirs.

Thank God they hold the Tour Down Under in Adelaide. It'd be a bloody embarrassing non event here in Sydney :(

Brian 03-10-05 02:59 AM

I have to agree. I guess that makes me a 'pesso seppo.

Yes, cycling is done during one's free time, and there ain't much spare time in the go-getting schedule of the average inner city Sydney-ite:p

WOW! the thread is still alive and kicking. Hello from Amsterdam, a very interesting place. Plenty of bike riding going on over here, although not to sure how many of you would want one of the bikes they tend to ride over here though. They all look like old school girl bikes with very low cross bar and very upright seating and handle bars. Still they are dangerous enough on them, lost count of the number of times I have almost been bailed over by one of them. THey brake for no one, and all these damn dedicated cycle paths/roads right next to the foot path. It is safer to walk out onto the road. Must remember look right first not left, i think that would solve most of my problems.

Oh had a horse meat hot dog thing yesterday. Tasted funny but nice... interesting the things to see over here as well...

ed073 03-10-05 03:19 PM

the Dutch talent is awesome.

(and they love Aussie bike racers....:D)

rockmuncher 03-10-05 05:57 PM

I was never meant to be a mountain biker. I finally get the motivation to go for a ride and what happens? I get the dreaded lurgey and ordered off the bike until it goes away.

ed073 03-10-05 06:00 PM

did you catch dysentry after taking a spill in a local creek?

:D

Saturday morning is off. So is Sunday, but I'll come and watch you win your first club champeenship.

And no Ed, no creeks were involved. It's some weird throat or bronchial infection. Nasty grey/green phlegm. You want some?

Nah mate.....I know it too well. Will usually strike:

-a day or two before a big race/tour
-after a flight
-when you've got super form/skinfolds right down
-3 or 4 times a year

I don't miss it. :)

rockmuncher 03-10-05 07:09 PM

Well I don't fly, I wouldn't call club championships a big race/tour, and I'd rather not talk about my skinfolds just now! :D

So it looks like it's the first of many

although I'm more inclined to believe that one of my germy little children donated it to me...

ed073 03-10-05 07:45 PM

yeh.....kids are germ factories.

rockmuncher 03-10-05 07:54 PM

Speaking of high maintenance stuff - did you ever get a blog up and running?

Negative. Not enough material to work with.

You're kiddin, right? No one has any material of merit for their blog. Blogging is just a brain-dump, usually with an audience of one (ie. yourself). Sure you can pretend your thoughts count for something, but delusions of grandeur often fade when reality rears its ugly head. Nah, blogs are just a way of scraping the scum off the top of your grey matter so you can remember what you once knew when old-timers' disease sets in. :D

ed073 03-10-05 09:26 PM

you make it sound so attractive.
