Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Again, since you no longer like the S2, and you no longer like your 404 clinchers, I'll take 'em to help with your grief

Start a Fred thread "Why are my tires going flat?"

That ought to be entertaining.

I like my S2 and if I could somehow get my Zipp 404 clinchers to actually retain any air volume, I'd like them as well.

I will try to investigate tonight. Too much work today. But I did get my ride in this AM. On the tubulars. And the rear Zipp 404 tubie needs truing.

It never friggin ends. Stupid bicycles. I wish I could still do distance running. My Nikes never got friggin flats.

I'll check the rim tape next, but I just think it's pinched tubes. Those 404 clinchers are a major pain in the ass with pinched tubes.

No wonder your country never wins any Olympic medals or soccer games, while the Dutch kick butt at speed skating.

i would have thought a fred like pcad would start a thread about fixing a flat or tossing the tube.

He stuck around for a while in the parody thread, started calling people "bro" and "brah," spewed some new segregation talk, and then felt the wrath. It all went downhill after someone referred to him as a Klansman.

I found him rather interesting. He described himself as "wattage obsessed."

The "I won't change my avatar because it's a symbol of freedom" talk was classic.

Do you roll the bead back to see if the tube is pinched after throwing your tires on? Also, are you running WW tubes, or regular weight butyl tubes?

I don't know. What the hell does 'ww' mean? Weight weenies? The Specialized tubes that cost $8.99. I think they're pretty light.

Clinchers just friggin suck. I need a pro contract and a team car, but I don't think I can get that for doing my Fredly training rides around friggin Chester NY.

Hey Pcad,

If you don't ride the Cervelo any more you should get a new picture. Yours is misleading.

Tube should be completely in tire when you're pushing the bead over. Otherwise a tiny bit could still be pinched and this might not be apparent even if you look.

Believe it or not, I've changed many a tire in my very, very short life.
